Centre for Advanced Imaging was a strategic initiative of the University of Queensland
to provide a range of advanced imaging technologies, to enable cutting edge research in disciplines
from basic science to bio-medical science. One of the advantages of having the new Centre
for Advanced Imaging building is that for the first time we are now able to bring together
a multidisciplinary group of researchers and because of its cutting edge nature we're able
to recruit high flying scientists from around the world. The CAI has the most comprehensive
collection of equipment for Nuclear MagneticResonance, Magnetic Resonance Imaging for animals and
humans, molecular imaging with PET CT and MR PET, radiochemistry and cyclotron and Electron
Paramagnetic Resonance. One of the really exciting things about the CAI is that it provides
a platform for research in a range of disciplines from understanding the fracture patterns in
coal all the way to the basic processes of the underlying key diseases such as cancer.
