Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, honorary guests, course directors, members of the faculty, proud parents and above all fellow Kingston graduates
Good morning, bonjour, marhaba, buenos días, guten morgen
ROUND OF APPLAUSE
The first thing I would like to say is that I'm honoured to be standing here today
today to deliver the vote of thanks on behalf of the graduates
but let me tell you one thing, this is scary erm
When I was first informed that I'd be doing the speech I got very excited
but on my way home I asked myself what did I just get myself into, seriously.
And then I thought about the end of the world prediction and I almost hoped it might save me from giving a speech
but here we are, it didn't happen
So for weeks I did not know what to say or talk about so I decided to make this speech very very short
So here we go.
ROUND OF APPLAUSE
Okay made you laugh, erm
I decided to talk a bit about my Kingston experience
the academic life at Kingston was very fulfilling and challenging at the same time
and it definitely contributed to my personal development
As you might have noticed the beginning of this speech was quite international
in fact what I remember the most that at Kingston is being in the midst of so much diversity and inspiration
I never got as much exposure to different nationalities, backgrounds, ethnicities, religions as I did at Kingston
I would like to thank the faculty for creating this enjoyable and enriching international environment
and in doing their best in challenging our ideas and triggering our creativity
In the name of the Kingston graduates I would like to recognise the parents here today
especially those that have travelled long distances just to attend and participate in this ceremony
Many of us have been living far away from home
You have offered us mental, emotional and financial support to become who we are today
So this is your day too, parents, grandparents, family and friends thank you for all you have done.
ROUND OF APPLAUSE
Fellow graduates, class of 2012, first and foremost congratulations, we did it.
ROUND OF APPLAUSE
The great artist BB King once said the beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you
as we head out to the big world we might not know what is the next step by the way
nobody's journey is smooth
at one point we all stumble
we all have setbacks
but we are young
we are full of energy
and we have an international renowned degree
and we can shape our careers and plan our destinies
Yes our nationalities might set us apart
we come from an extremely diverse countries and backgrounds
but the bonding that we created here at Kingston university erased every border and boundary
As alumni we will always be part of the Kingston family
classmates, room mates, acquaintances and friends, thank you for making my Kingston experience a good one
class of 2012 I wish you all very good lives, promising careers, joy and so much laughter
Thank you very much.
