Congratulations on entering Rogue Community College! Now we want to know what is next?
What is your goal? What degree would you like to pursue? Knowing where you want to go makes
it easier to understand the steps you need to follow to get there. Unsure of your goal?
RCC's Counseling Department can help you to explore majors and careers and to choose the
best RCC degree or certificate to meet your goals. Your placement test assessed your college
readiness in reading, writing, and math. Your First Term Course Choices based on your placement
test and your major will give you the best start to achieve success as you move toward
your academic goals. It is common for students to start at an academic skills level to strengthen
their education foundation. This helps to guarantee success as you move towards graduation.
Rogue Community College provides Academic Advising for all its students to assist them
in reaching their goals. Counseling and program advisors can help you understand your graduation
requirements, plan out courses, assist with problems that may arise, and provide general
guidance along the way. It is important to know and remember that many courses at RCC
have pre-requisites. A pre-req is a course requirement that must be completed prior to
taking another course. When you are planning your classes be aware of what the pre-requisites
are for that course. Be sure that you have planned to complete them prior to the term
you want to register for that class. You can find the pre-req requirements for each course
inside the course description or listed in the notes on the online schedule. When planning
each term be sure to take into account the other facets of your life that require your
time. Do you have a job? Kids? Or other obligations? Fulltime college is like a fulltime job. 12
credits is fulltime, and that generally means 12 hours per week in class, and another 24-36
hours a week of homework. Fall, winter and spring terms are 11 weeks long, but summer
term is just 8 weeks long, and it is best to take less hours as the classes compress
11 weeks of material into 8 weeks." Plan to meet with your advisor prior to registration
to be ready to go when the time comes. An easy way to remember when to see your advisor
is to base it around common holidays. See your advisor by Halloween for winter, Valentine's
Day for spring, and Cinco de Mayo for summer and fall advising. Be sure to watch out for
announcements or check the academic calendar to know each term when registration begins.
The schedule of classes is posted on roguecc.edu for the academic year. Using the graduation
guide for your major, you can plan out your courses for the entire year. This way you
know where you stand as you approach graduation and can be sure you are completing pre-requisites
and other requirements. RCC has many resources for you to use and a really useful one would
be a department advisor. These advisors will help you as you enter the heart of your degree
and as you near the end of your time at RCC making sure you take the correct classes,
complete all the requirements, and help you plan your next steps. You can find who your
advisor should be at. RCC has a Satisfactory Academic Standings and Progress policy that
students are expected to achieve and maintain. To be in good standing you must earn at least
a "C" average and pass at least 50% of your credits each term. You can find the full policy
in the catalog. Remember advising is a shared responsibility. It takes work on both the
student and advisors side to be successful. Being proactive and early in your planning
is one way to guarantee your success. You came to RCC with a goal and we are here to
assist you in reaching it. Hi I'm Denise. It looks like your next step will be registering
for classes so I'm going to help you with that and provide you with some more important
college policy information. In order to register for classes you'll need to log into your myRogue
account. You created this account when you applied for admission here at RCC and this
is where you signed up for your placement test. Once you are logged in, you're going
to choose Register for Classes from the menu options. Then you will select the term you
want to register for. Use your handout of First Term Course Choices to search for the
classes you want to take. You can use the campus sort function if you only want to take
classes on one campus. You might want to start with a quick search of each course to check
for availability, as some classes have more day/time options available than others, then
begin to register by adding classes into your shopping cart. Make a note of the day/time
each class meets as you add them. If a class you would really like to take is full but
displays a waitlist option, you may add yourself to the waitlist. There are typically 10 spots
on a waitlist, and as students adjust their schedules and drop classes, we move students
in from the waitlist. We do this daily up to the Sunday before the term begins. If you
get automatically moved into the class, we'll email you - so be sure you have a valid email
address on file in your student account and add myRogueTeam to your email address book
so you're sure to get all the important emails from the college. When you've added all the
classes you want to your cart, click on Advance to Checkout. Be sure you read through and
to the waitlist. You are not charged for waitlisted courses until you officially enroll in the
for you. Now you are registered and can print your schedule. The Printable Schedule option
on myRogue includes the required books for each course. You can use your printed schedule
and photo ID to get an RCC student ID card. If you need more assistance with registration,
you can get help in person at a Registration Assistance Lab. See the RCC calendar of events
for the next available date. Make sure you attend all of your classes. This is critical
for your success in college but additionally, not attending can result in you being dropped
from your classes. If you are taking an online class, be sure to log in to your classroom
and complete the orientation and any other assignments during the first week of classes.
If you are still waitlisted for a course at the start of the term, attend that class as
well and ask the instructor for the Permission Code in order to register. Students may register
themselves in classes through Friday the first week of term, but if you register late, be
sure you get in touch with your instructor to find out what you have missed. You may
add classes through Wednesday of week two but after the first Friday, you will need
a permission code from the instructor to do so. Once you have the code, go to your myRogue
account and click on Register with Permission Code from the menu options, enter the code
and proceed through the checkout process. You can drop term-length classes up through
the second Wednesday of the term and receive a full refund. Starting the second Thursday,
you are now withdrawing from the class. A withdraw is different from a drop in that
you will not receive a refund and will have to completed payment to the college for the
class. You will also receive a grade of "W" for the course on your college transcript.
Your schedule is your responsibility. Please make sure that you are enrolled in classes
that you want to be in and plan to complete successfully. Adjust your schedule as necessary
within the drop period. For more information on important dates, print and review the Academic
Calendar available on our website. Register as early as possible for the most scheduling
options. Best of luck to you on getting the classes you want and congratulations on the
beginning of your educational journey!
