That was all I wanted to say about this car.
Cut that Martijn, it's OK like this.
Oh boy, this is fun.
We're driving the car that's been on the website recently.
It got reactions like "***", "sex", etc.
It's all true.
This is a Porsche 993 Carrera RS.
This is the best thing Porsche ever made.
At least, with an air-cooled engine. It was the last 911 that had one.
After that came the 996 with the ugly fried eggs up front.
This one is so yummy.
It was a goodbye model. RS means Rennsport at Porsche.
It's more quiet here. Nice.
RS means Rennsport.
That's exactly what this car is. It's a race car.
It has little to do with road use, except that it's really fun.
This is a car in which you hear, feel and smell everything like in a race car.
Let's talk technology, because that's part of it.
There's a 296 hp engine, 3.8 liters… Actually it's 3,746 cc.
Porsche's marketing department rounded it up in their favor.
It's air-cooled fun.
It's wonderful to drive. The top speed is 172 mph.
We haven't tried and I won't, because that's scary, to be honest.
0-62 mph takes 5 seconds.
That doesn't seem fast, but it's the way you do it.
This thing pushes and pushes, it just keeps going in every gear.
This is mostly due to weight savings compared to a normal 993.
This thing here is a sort of cardboard or paper.
The hood is no hood, but the trunk lid.
It's made from aluminum to save weight.
This glass is thinner than regular glass.
Everything was made to save weight and to be faster.
It doesn't have that much more hp than a 993 Carrera S.
It's just the way the power is distributed and the way the car keeps going.
It's so bizarre.
I can't describe it. I hope you understand what I experience.
You have to stay awake. The car asks a lot from you.
They're hard to get because only 1,050 were produced.
Only 3 have been registered in the Netherlands.
This is one of these original Dutch cars.
About 200 have a Clubsport package. Not this one; it's the normal Carrera RS.
The big difference is the rear spoiler.
The Clubsport has a high one, on which you can have a picnic.
A seat for the whole family, but you'll only need it on the track.
The car belongs there.
This one has a lower spoiler. It looks like the Turbo spoiler, but it isn't.
There's a different front bumper with other aerodynamics.
We both think it has very pretty alloy rims.
This is a car--
When taking the roundabout it bucks, or you'll just step on the gas.
If you want to buy one: they're rare and very expensive.
The car was for sale between 1995 and 1996 for over 100,000 euros.
If you want to buy one now, they're--
I checked online yesterday. In Germany there's one for sale for 150,000 euros.
The good cars go for 175,000 - 200,000 euros.
That's a lot of money. A few years ago they were still 75,000 - 100,000 euros.
Looks like they're going up in value, so it may be a good investment.
It's surer than your pension nowadays.
If you don't buy the car because you like it, you should buy it as an investment.
Just park it on my driveway. I'll keep it going.
I'll send you the gas tickets, that'll be OK.
Deal?
