Conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA is a family of omega-6 fatty acids.
It is relatively rare in modern diets, but is most abundant is the fat of grass fed beef,
which contains up to 500% more CLA than conventionally fed beef.
There have been over 30 human studies to show that CLA can aid with fat loss, particularly
belly fat, and the most effective dosage is 3.2 grams a day.
This makes it one of the most scientifically supported and natural fat loss nutrients.
CLA has also been shown to increase the lean body mass of consumers, which makes it a popular
toning product.
Preliminary studies on CLA suggest that it may have anti-cancer properties, especially
against skin and colon cancer.
It may also be able to increase the effects of the breast cancer drug tamoxifen.
Other benefits of CLA include protection against cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and promoting
the immune system.
Overdosage of CLA is only possible with excessive supplementation, and is characterised by hyperglycemia,
itching and wheezing.
