Mr. President, I now ask unanimous consent to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the
motion to concur with amendment occur at 5:30 pm Monday,
September 26. This great piece of legislation
that was sent to us by the House
received thirty six votes over here.
It was tabled on a bipartisan basis. Mr. President the
matter that's now before the Senate
is really a nice piece of legislation; funds the government
until November 18, that's what the house wanted.
It also has money in the bill
to take care of FEMA.
And we
recognized that even though we passed a bill here with
bipartisan support,
that had 6.9 billion dollars which we believe is the
appropriate figure. In an effort to compromise
in this C.R.
We have the number that the House
thinks is a better number.
That’s what is before us.
And so Mr. President, my suggestion to my friend
And he is my friend,
is that the two Democratic leaders
Reid and Pelosi,
the two republican leaders McConnell and Boehner
should just cool off for a little bit.
Work through this.
There's a compromise here.
And the compromise is now before the Senate.
Everyone once in a while needs a little cooling off period. The government's not
shutting down, I spoke to Mr. Fugate myself, FEMA’s not out of money.
We’ll come here Monday,
more reasonable heads will prevail. And I would hope over the weekend
that the four leaders can lead their troops in the right direction.
So I again ask unanimous consent the vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur
with an amendment occur at
5:30 pm
Monday, September 26.
