DISPATCHER: Emergency. Police, ambulance or fire?
BOY: Hello? DISPATCHER: Hi you have 9-1-1. How can I help you?
BOY: Hello? DISPATCHER: Hi! Who's this?
BOY: DISPATCHER: Oh! How are you today?
BOY: Good. DISPATCHER: Yeah? How old are you?
BOY: Five DISPATCHER: You're 5, eh? Is mom or dad around? Can I talk to one of them?
BOY: Who are you? DISPATCHER: Well you called me. What number did you dial?
BOY: I don't know. DISPATCHER: You dialed 9-1-1, eh? Did you want to see if it actually worked?
BOY: I don't remember what 9-1-1 is.
DISPATCHER: Yeah, 9-1-1 is for emergencies. It's for the ambulance, or if you need a police officer, or if there's a fire and you need a fire fighter.
DISPACTHER: Didn't they teach you that in school about 9-1-1, that you call if somebody needs help? BOY: Yup.
DISPATCHER: Yeah. Okay, so does somebody need help today, or were you just testing it out? BOY: Just testing.
DISPATCHER: Just testing, eh? Well I'm here. BOY:
DISPATCHER:
ANSWERING MACHINE: Hello. We are not available now. Please leave your name and phone number after the beep.
DISPATCHER: Hi. This is Toronto Police Service calling. called 9-1-1. We just want to make sure everything was okay there.
The officers will be attending your home. If you have no emergency, please call us back...
MOM: Hello?
DISPATCHER: Hi! Are you the mom, or brother? MOM: I'm the mom
DISPATCHER: Oh. Okay. He cad called 9-1-1. MOM: Oh my god.
DISPATCHER: He wanted to make sure we were really here. MOM: I am so sorry.
DISPATCHER: Apparently he learned about us in school recently. MOM: Oh my god. I am so sorry.
DISPATCHER: Everything's okay though, right? MOM: Yeah.
DISPATCHER: Thank you so much. MOM: Thank you! DISPATCHER: Bye-bye.
