In this video I'm going to show you the library website and look at some key resources on
the home page. The URL for the library website
is library.jhu.edu and that takes you into the home
page for the library. There's a lot going on on this page and some of the main features
which I want to point out to you. One of them is Catalyst,
so if you're looking for books you can use Catalyst to search what we have in our collection,
you can do that right here. Underneath that we've go the guides by topic and this is where
you would go if you want to get to the core databases to look for articles. You can get
to the guides from over here, you can just choose
them. You can also search for them. Over on the right hand side we've got a list of all
of our databases alphabetically. You can either go
to the database as long as you know the name of it,
you can just scroll to it and choose it, or you can just type in the name of the database
to get to it. Above that we've got the hours for the main
library in Baltimore and also along the top, we've
got a link to the other library websites in the Hopkins systems, including the DC area
libraries. You can see what our hours are by getting
to the website from here. We've also got the FindIt
feature to search a citation. Over in the middle of the home page we've got a link to
WorldCat, so if you're looking for books which are outside
of the Hopkins system, you can search WorldCat and then you can link to the Interlibrary
Loan service to request those books. We also have got a direct link over here to the Interlibrary
Loan. Above that we've got a link to RefWorks, which is a great citation tool that
you should make yourself familiar with if you're
writing a big paper. Some other things over here under Tools & Tips. We've also got a
link to your Library Account if you want to see what
books you have out, if you want to renew your books, this is where you would do that. And
we've also got a link to the Citing Sources guide,
which you may find useful. Underneath that, towards the bottom of the home page, we've
got our blog and twitter updates so you can see
what's going on with that over here. And then all the
way at the bottom, if you want to contact us you can do that from over here. Just one
more thing to keep in mind, you should be able to access
all of these services and more as long you know
your JHED ID and password.
