What’s up guys, for Complex News I’m Alex Hudgens.
Incredible sports plays made your jaw drop, made you dance in celebration, and may have
made you cry in 2015. If you’re a true fan, you *live* for these moments no matter what,
because obviously,
I didn’t want to rank the best-of-the-best plays from this year definitively because
I’m afraid of commitment, and because how do you compare an amazing soccer goal to a
Hail Mary TD for the win to an underdog knockout? They’re different things, people.
But, it’s the end of the year, so we have to do something… look back before you jump
forward, ya know? So, without further ado, here are 10 of the best sports plays of 2015.
Let’s start with Chef Curry, because the reality is that we could probably make all
10 of these Steph highlights. He’s just been that good this year, so I’m giving
him two plays… but they only count as one, because this is my top 10 list, not my top
11 list. Deal with it. Anyway, remember when Curry made the whole damn Clippers team look
silly? And when he shattered Chris Paul’s existence with this crossover: Proud of you
for getting back up after that, Chris Paul, and I bet you’re really good at Twister.
Another moment of glory for one player and misery for another: Jeremy Evans’ *monster*
block on The Brow: I can still hear that *BOP* boyyyy
And now: DeAndre Jordan ending Greg Monroe’s *life* with arguably the dunk of the year
so far:
Moving on to the MLB world, how about the Rangers vs. Blue Jays, Game 5 of the American
League Division Series-- after what many call the craziest inning in baseball playoff history,
Joe Bautista hits a home run to put a nail in the Rangers’ season/make their ancestors
dizzy. And then, the bat flip heard ‘round the world.
Next up-- if you didn’t see it live, you heard about it because we haven’t stopped
talking about Holly Holm’s stunning, underdog victory when she knocked out Ronda Rousey
at UFC 193. Here’s a high quality replay:
Another shoutout to the badass ladies who killed it this year-- tell me you caught Carli
Lloyd’s strike from midfield and hat-trick goal, that gave Team USA a 4-0 lead against
Japan in the Women’s World Cup Final.
Football had no shortage of amazing plays this year. Shoutout to the college players
first-- remember when Stanford’s Francis Owusu hit us with the “razzle dazzle”
by catching a touchdown pass *against a UCLA player’s back*?
And then, one of *the craziest things I’ve **ever** seen in my life*... Miami’s impossible
EIGHT-lateral kickoff return to beat Duke:
Moving on to the NFL-- how about Malcolm Butler’s end zone interception to seal the Patriots
victory at Super Bowl XLIX over the Seahawks? Sorry, Seattle fans. Look away.
And of course, last but certainly not least… Aaron Rodger’s *insane* Hail Mary to give
the Packers a W over the Lions in one of the greatest walk-off wins in NFL history. No
time left, Rodgers to Rodgers, the 61-yard Hail Mary moonshot, Motor City Miracle:
There you have it! I get excited all over again watching those, and (photoshop my face
onto his head) I’m also really craving gametime snacks now.
With a ton of different sports and an endless number of plays to choose from, there’s
a chance I left out a couple jaw-dropping moments… what were your favorites of 2015?
