the david beckham ngo addition dot com
welcome to the show hope everybody had a good thanksgiving i know on thanksgiving
day lewis i want to election with the movies at night
and i saw the new james bond movie but it was good
dot the last twenty minutes for discounted generic action movie
type of thing
decide to write i did not hear it
but very good acting you know i thought in the list as well put together one of
the better james bond movies definitely
you know it's insane note for the last
it's probably been eighteen months maybe even couple years
since i've been to the local
commercial cineplex style movie theater i've been going to other movie theaters
in the area lately
taken aback at the amount of advertising previews and all sorts of nonsense that
was going on the movie was the both start at seven fifteen
so figuring it would be kinda busy
we got there around seven sat down now there's already
whipping
agis commercials playing with allowed audio okay so you can even chat with the
people here with because even though it's fifteen minutes before the preview
starters already really loud commercials playing writer tv shows products all
sorts of stuff okay
finally
at like seven seventeen
the lights go down slightly
and now you have
your pre preview previews in commercials that are of course i after
that the loud t_v_ commercials before any of the lights are going down so that
there's ads for like the movie theater chain itself
for various products that are endorsed urkel marketed with the movie chains on
and so forth
read three different skits about turning your cell phone off of course branded
heavily with the movie theater
so finally member seven fifty in the movie starts okay
by seven twenty five were finally ready for the previous to begin
admitted despite this twenty minutes of previous literally seven forty five is
on the actual movie started set for seven fifteen
and if you got there just ten or fifteen minutes early eve at this point you've
sat through forty five minutes of advertising
it's incredible that this is what's camp is considered normal at this point
yup i i'm united remember
even
well okay maybe like fifteen years ago yeah
uh... there were no advertisements before moving to reduce the previous
right and then we started seeing that big coca-cola and send them the silent
just atleast it would be just like a still image an image of a right
and a lot of just have to do with the food they sell in the movie theatre
right
and it's it's completely spiral out of control needless to say i hope it's
another eighteen months before i have to go back to that movie theater neck and
support the local movie theaters instead
yeah i mean anytime i i get the opportunity i go to the smaller
local warns bridger
a_d_r_ a strip club exploded down the road from our studio this is scores
gentleman's club in springfield massachusetts
apparently the smell of gas was reported around four four ish in the afternoon on
uh... on friday
and then
they sent out
gas employees to actually check what was going on a gets a normal thing that's
done
izzy basically drill a little hole into the ground to check if there's
a reading of of gas
the of natural gas there in the pocket of so loyal so to speak
and i guess
it accidentally the probe accidentally
punctured a pipe
and an hour later that led to the explosion i mean the place was
completely leveled
including i mean buildings all around the world were damaged but that the
actual strip club was completely destroyed
and the gas company has actually dot basically taken responsibility for what
happened to be compensating everybody involved
at first i thought might be some type of insurance fraud but
but it's not sounds nadia a friend of mine who lives very close and her
windows were actually completely blown out she wasn't there she was on the
uh... but near cape cod or boston area or something for thanksgiving and she
just heard from people in her building that her windows were completely
destroyed
yeah i started getting text messages that there was a some huge explosion in
springfield
the weird thing though is that nobody was killed and which is great but
literally i i don't i guess that entire place must have been evacuated there was
an hour from when the gas was smelled until the explosion so maybe everybody
was gone but the strip clubs are open
as far as i know close to twenty four hours a day out there
i really don't know
uh... there were a lot of injuries um... but i believe that was mostly just
responders right they absolutely i think one of the two main injuries was like a
photographer for a local news station but you know
strip clubs are dangerous places they're they're liable to explode could
basically spontaneously combust anytime not just that it that the strip clubs
around us there are often shootings as well that's true
plenty of shootings that exact mat the better to avoid i think right i think so
that the word from louis leased out
you heard
listen up kids
avoid strip clubs
says me
yet even though on the boat is so you have told the story about when you were
choked at a strip club a by a stripper
but that's what i wanted that the voters show story which he told i don't want to
go into that here
as i know that i love that i will go to the many more it that's not a reason to
sign up above the show i don't know what it's two point
also on black friday wal-mart
hit by protests and strikes
across forty-six states this is a little bit
this decides the story on the one hand
we're hearing from the pro strike pro protest advocates
that there were up protesters
all over the country
i thought was in protest in forty-six states
wal-mart workers in uh... atlanta miami dallas wisconsin california's bay area
chicago et cetera walking out protesting wages
protesting work conditions protesting having to work on on thanksgiving so
many other things
on the other hand wal-mart is countering
that it had the best black friday ever
now it's a little bit weird for me to hear that because at the time i read
that article black friday with the stores are still open on black friday
is it just propaganda
or was at such a good black friday that
even only halfway through it they already knew that it was the best black
friday ever i don't really know it sounds like it might be
difficult of corporate p_r_ it could be a new online sales
you know if i'm wrong
uh... for wal-mart specifically no overall overall you know for black
friday
could be that they did have
degrees by friday ever i mean as a prop population gets bigger it's really no
surprise in the aggregate there will be records of yours
the other comment from wal-mart was that the majority of protesters were not
actually wal-mart workers they said
only twenty six protests occurred and many of them did not include any
wal-mart associates this according to bill's simon wal-mart's u_s_ president
and c_e_o_
he said we had a very safe and successful black friday event uh... our
stores across the country
and we heard positive feedback so on and so forth a friend of ours actually had
to work
thanksgiving works at wal-mart
thanksgiving night at midnight he had to go in and it's funny when i left the
movie theatre around nine forty five ten on on thursday night
i said let's just right by the walmart that's near by to see what's going on
and there was that there were hundreds of people i mean literally lined up it
was just it's shocking what's going on in this country with uh... with
the tire thing i would have been taken aback by yeah artery even protests at
our local walmart from ornery near me
uh... corporate went there on park friday
she says she sed all of a sudden calls missus oh my god it's crazy here yeah
leader protests everywhere people running around the store yelling things
chances not just got gotten a lot of their real fast well today in cyber
monday and i wanna make sure people know that the david packard show has a cyber
monday special just go to david pacman dot com slash cyber monday
it's a fantastic thing today only hours left sign up etcetera etcetera
couple of other things to get to thanksgiving related conservative groups
are angry that for the fourth straight year president old bomb a did not
mention god in his thanksgiving resolution so
drudge report dot com linked to an article on light news dot com
and it said the following is is the fourth straight year
for the fourth straight year the thanksgiving resolution for president
barack obama
fails to actually bank god which is the fundamental reason why thanksgiving is
observed and they're going to say in seventeen eighty nine george washington
issued a proclamation
that said the main reason it is
uh... to it for the service of that great and glorious being who is the
beneficial arthur
of all the good that is that was or ever will be a bum paraphrasing here and that
we may of unite in rendering unto him are sincere and humble thanks now
the article goes on to criticize president obama saying for president
obama
thanksgiving is about food and football according to his official remarks now
here's was really funny
at the end of it he actually does mentioned dot
like news dot com in other conservatives are angry because it was only mentioned
in passing it says because they're for the grace of god go i
that's that's a quote from the statement so
first of all president obama does mention god in the statement that
conservatives are angry with him
for not mentioning god and then
it's actually good that he's respecting the constitution it doesn't really
matter what president george washington said about the holiday because one
president said one thing and another president saying another thing the
important thing is that
the constitution
and our founding fathers would be happy to see
that there is actual separation of church and state if there were right
because president obama actually did mention god
conservatives just completely apoplectic they don't know what to do now the
president obama's been reelected
gave out marriage equality is is furthering the div div completely out of
their minds i guess i'm just gonna live assume that people won't factor them
maybe that's what it is
so they did here
were really angry that president obama didn't mention god
part of our complaint is he did mention god
at the end in passing
but he didn't mention god in a really angry about that
but here's the line about when he mentioned got you know very consistent
message you know i a with pot
the you know conservatives would've unhappy that oklahoma failed to mention
all of which is that god that they think that he subscribes that's the other
thing and and you would think that president obama says he is of course
muslim which is of course a bad thing according to
a lot of people
why didn't you mention uh... why didn't he make a reference for the karana
alight very confusing mixed signals from the muslim president
what what do we were to redo david i'm confused
hey here's one of my favorite clips remember a few months ago when this
pranks third got on fox news pretending to be a former obama supporter
and basically pranks gretchen carlson saying
well i don't like to direction no bomb is taking the country and i'm voting for
mit romney because of a basketball bag or something like that
and it was clearly a joke the kid wasn't even all the nafta vote last election
and fox news didn't do any fact checking
this is a different version of that and this is like a more serious one that's
really really good
john scott
was interviewing uh... author tom ricks and tom rex has brought on fox news on
happening now
to talk about how a lot of republican lawmakers are now backing off of their
conspiracy theory claims regarding the ben qazi attacks we talked on our last
show
how john mccain senator john mccain had all these conspiracy theories about then
god the and now he's backed off of them of course because they were completely
warrantless and made absolutely no sense
there was no conspiracy so on and so forth this is really good emina plays
video for you
within a minute we within seconds
uh... tom ricks basically says
foxnews
is the reason but the bad guys eating even blew up and by the way fox news is
operating at the propaganda as a as an arm of the republican party
interview over instantly that's a really good way to get yourself picked up by
boxes isle of this video take a look at this
pressure mounting on the obama administration over its responsibility
attack on our consulate and mentality
as katherine here is reported just minutes ago several spots g_o_p_
lawmakers are backing off their criticism of u_n_ ambassador season
right uh... instead focusing on the white house right
two senators even expressing concerns about possible white house cover up
sorrow tom receives author of the generals you spent becker decades
covering our military joins us now other senator john mccain is set in the past
that he would block any attempt
uh... to nominate susan rise to become
u_n_ ansari secretary of state she's currently the u_n_ ambassador he seems
to be backing away from that what you make of it
well-intended
then god eternally was hyped by this network especially and undoubtedly
campaign is over
i think he's backing off a little bit they're not gonna stop susan rise from
the secretary of state when you when you have four people dead including the
first u_n_ ambassador u_s_ ambassador in more than thirty years having cold at
night r dot here we go this is where he completely break that down and then
later will go into where he gets himself kicked off take a look
families hearing contractors died in iraq you know
no nobody does because nobody cared
we know that with several hundred died there was never an official countdown
of security contractors and wrap
so when i see this focus
on what was essentially a small firefighting number one i've covered a
lot of marquardt
it's impossible to your own happens and sometimes
has certainly been
that the other two somebody got is an extremely political
well because fox was operating as a wing of the republican party
tom rex thanks very much for joining us for the vertigo gauges off
so this interview from the time if you take if you consider the fact that there
was this long introduction from john scott
the actual interview left it
forty nine seconds a forty nine second appears now of course foxnews will
probably argue
well we didn't take a motto is if he was brought on in the interview took its
course and it it ran its course
and that was it
really new book people for forty nine second interviews now
obviously
he went out there he said what were all very aware of about box newsday got
absolve booted off
worth completely worth it never to be on box again is great uh... and no
challenge from fox news now
they did not challenge is claiming all no i mean i'm sure that they can date
the fact that they didn't challenge it doesn't mean they agree i'm sure it's
policy does not to engage in that role yeah met on what you thought on that i
love this
yet this is uh... extremely satisfying when someone calls of fox on the air
and uh... there were response is essentially the censored
no question about it's it's abril he did this in a prank call boxes got some
tough ones over the last couple of months
it's monday
money recommended book to louis if i'm at
art by monday book recommendations made possible in part by a fashion of
*** by joanna louise johnson
which according to the culture buzz is absolutely ear is this the bull
even as it begs the all too serious question when does high-level
self-serving manipulation reach the tipping point of permanent harm to our
planet
here's my recommendation for taylor's you're ready
already okay
the adventures abadi march
by saul bellow
this is from nineteen fifty three
it is about argue marsh who grows up during the great depression
this was actually a heart departed to really believe this
for some some will find the shopping list but
the first book by bellow that i've read
and it's it's fantastic i needed the writing skill is excellent
the character development is fantastic this that i i hate
i'll call it a coming of age story
but it is a story that tracks argue march through a period of his life
and
the the flavor in context you get for the great depression the characters in
it including
the the so-called grandmother of augie march it's a really good book you've got
a set aside some time for it though
the addition i have is like five hundred and fifty pages
and these are some pretty dense pages they must say so this isn't one that you
gonna read over a weekend unless you gonna spend twelve hours a day reading
it but
highly recommended i encourage people to check it out
thank you david
the brewry recommendation alright today on the boat show will talk about
two hundred and twenty square foot apartments in san francisco would you
live in something like this
we'll also talk about church is offering concealed weapons training
and blood bricks would you be okay having a housemate

here's a shocking story
on fox news
andrea capa dot com taro's
suggested
food stamps could be kind of a diet plan saying do you know how fabulous i'd look
if i was on the food stamp died this was in response to cory booker
they uh...
newark mayor cory booker saying that he would do a food stamp diet for i think
it's for a month actually here's the discussion here's the video clip
take a look at this
social twenty seconds left
did you live on the home in thirty three bucks a month for food
andrea eyes should try it because you know how fabulous i'd like i'd been
stellar any
and kamran adds ten pounds really does i'm sitting in the same great
uncertainty about some of the satellite probably does my wife five eleven with
two hundred and twenty thousand sheetal base-closing dataset dicey zamora you
see for more than a about
all came here now i think stuart varney also called
that new jersey uh... that realistic guy mister book although maybe as a
reference to quick book that was weird
regardless
this is very very insulting i meet people are uh... thepeople who who are
on food stamps
the problem is that we do they have enough to eat
and anytime taro's is joking saying that she would be just so thin and it would
be thirsty so great for her physical appearance if you did the food stamp
diet
what's implicit in this though
is that she is admitting
food stamps don't provide enough sustenance for someone to maintain their
way out and i don't think that's the point she's trying to make right but she
is basically admitting that here
knowing the the channel i mean the pointer probably all trying to make is
that uh...
no one should have who'd steps or something along the lines of that well
they've had a long history of dismissing hunger related issues back in may we
talked about when celebrity chef mario batali
was going to do the food stamp challenge and fox news is greg got filled ask
does this make you want to slap him
around
and around that same time sean hannity was saying that
people who have
food insecurity
should shun the snap program and instead just eat more rice and beans which he
said can be purchased for quote
relatively negligible amounts of money
those people who don't have enough food or so stupid sean hannity knows you know
he makes like five million a year
he knows that just by race and beans it's really cheap with nobody in the car
nobody goes hungry lewis's by rice and beans people don't know the items to buy
very simple
unit on what do you think about this uh... dismissive attitude that
proceeding
led by fox news but really by a lot of the right about food stamps and just
dismiss it nature but hundreds of issue
for me it's from innocent of the noted the argument that conservatives and
republicans make
whenever there's a social program which is
the take a
half past involvement a fan of that
and criticize that it's not as effective as it claimed to be so we should just
oppose it all together like
even with the stimulus people you know paul krugman we talked about this sort
of predicted that if the stimulus is too small you'd have people say although it
wasn't really that effective would write a ruse that those this idea of stimulus
doesn't make any sense that we should be imported so
it seems like a part of the whole thing well it's not have screwed stands
because the ones that we have don't provide enough support
it also jibes with the whole idea louis on fox news of uh... of poor people had
everything they need in this country they've got cell phone from obama even
the bush started a program that college degrees all that stuff right
it seems
counter
counterproductive to their uh...
so they're narrative here even state how much money
basically do food stamps or acquittal and to hear people would realize a
little it and i don't know
who knows what the transit pat robertson is now saying he missed
god's message about the twenty twelve election
a few months ago we talked about pat robertson saying that god spoke to him
and told them what would happen in the twenty twelve election here's that clip
if you don't remember
i'm worried just what i wrote uh... as if i'm hearing from the lord these words
your country will be torn apart by internals
stress
the host of other two that stand
you president holes a radical the
with the direction of your country which is the only way that that apparently
last time god spoke to pat robertson about the election
he quoted link in the house divided cannot stand got apparently very up to
speed on
relatively modern uh... american history does everything goes all the quotes
quoting lincoln
anything about is that
well now pat robertson the latest as he's admitting
he'd didn't really get the message from god heating seems to have missed the
message could take a look at this
to practice the presence of god practice the voice of god practice hearing from
london and checked to see if indeed you hearing from him
and uh...
so many of us miss god
at ten years i'll get into great detail about elections but i showed the this is
the level that heard from god i thought i had heard clearly from god
what happened what intervenes one williams could don't hand on this
will move up a lot of practice
there you go the pat robertson and anything that you know i think that
there are killers
god has spoken pat
and he wanted president obama to win friday if that god is omnipotent
he knows he can quote lincoln as we saw he knows everything
if president obama one clearly god wanted president obama to win so you
should embrace it because he is god's choice i mean is it is the logically the
rest of scribe to pat robertson's uh...
ideology yeah
then yes god wanted
brock obama win
but in reality
pat robertson is a snake oil salesmen
and uh... he's been bs ing everybody newsflash don't listen to pat robertson
you know i have a kind of a shocking revelation to make on the show i think
this will be
and i'm not even sure if i should really admit this
i think people find it a little bit disturbing but
i kinda wish i was a republican sometime
i really do
i mean data life would be so simple listen
forget about
looking at studies about
how desperate control tied to the abortion raided should women have access
to draw the way
abortion is ***
and i'm against abortion
it would make things really really easy forget about
the fight for
text books that reflect the scientific consensus and act guided by religious
dogma blah blah blah blah blah high could just say
god created this uh... this is the universe in seven days
and were actually teach and anything else is the work of the devil
taxes
taxes are back
we're not gonna raise taxes i'm a republican taxes need to be low we will
not raise taxes are turning to think about the effect on people don't even
think about all that stuff
i feel like
life would be so much easier i would be so much less conflicted
and concerned and stressed about things if i was a republican i wish i could be
a republican
basically we're saying is you wouldn't have to think about anything
is that what i'm saying
i think what you're saying is
ignorance is bliss net on what's your reaction to this
uh... via i mean i think that the way that republicans further the mainstream
republicans think about
even government as a general thing is simplistic they think the government bad
small government good and they think that the opponents think it's the
opposite big government could small government that when the reality is that
their party believes
that in principle
and the democrats actually just believe that the government is a means to an end
and i think that's the basic difference between him and that's the way they
think about all issues would you consider this taking the settler could
you convince yourself well it's good you would think yourself into just saying
you know what
i want for the simple argument that just sound right
uh... at face value without any introspection because it's gonna be
easier i mean it just disconnect my cell from this nonsense could you ever do it
i can't do that yeah i don't think i could hear my mind is not work that way
i agree
all right let's take a break please join us on face book we passed over
thanksgiving weekend
ten thousand face book life that's a big deal to us
it's good to you know it's it's that we uh... rising let's keep it going let's
go for twenty five thousand
face book dot com slash david packard show we'll take a break the cyber monday
deal ends an hour's david acton dot com slash cyber monday
stay tuned wendell potter is next
david admin shelves and david admin dot com
welcome back to the david adventure
joint is wendell potter his former vice president of corporate communications at
cigna he's the author of the book deadly spin
and also columnist at the center for public integrity and huffington post
when dole pleasure as always to talk to you i think it really good place to
start is in light of president obama's reelection we have seen
certainly some candid admissions at least
from the right that it is not likely now that buffalo bomb a care the affordable
care act is going to be repealed
would you consider this
kind of a locking in of the affordable care act to be a good president obama's
reelection
or they're still hopes to repeal
i_d_ is locked and i think that uh...
uh... you will see is a very important your people care act a lot has to be
done
just recently part of health and human services police in
along with the regulations that will be in men
this year the uh... states had to get ready
forward the exchanges that they have set up ah... some believe that summer not
uh... if they're not built around will have to do it for them with relief
i think what we have to worry about this not that it will be repealed
i don't think he's a bit of the votes and uh... in the senate to sustain a
apo to pass a bill to
reputed or really got it but what we have to do
is to make sure that there is no weekend to the point that uh...
it's not
doing what congress intended which is to expand coverage
too many people as possible and began to control cost so is it possible this idea
that uh... that it may just not be
funded in other words the law as a law is not repealed
but that the the the congress could act in a way to just simply not provide the
funding necessary implement some aspect of the program
you know i think uh... you consume a lot i don't think you'll be able to allot of
that
uh... much loved by millions already
you know all much of its already been uh...
uh... much has been the been implemented or are albright's an appropriate and
much of it has been used his seventeen unity too many ways
but uh... led the what will have to watch is during the in beijing this lame
duck session on the uh... so-called fiscal clip cliff us the republicans
will obviously want to but challenging administration democrats the saying
you'd get to agreeing to be doing anything
pertain to entitlements we ca
a look at the affordable care act i don't think that uh... administration
wanna go there address the congressional democrats will
one of our that someone might be able
there's also a separate kind of walking and that may take place in the court of
public opinion because my pmp of you for a while has been
that republicans have this small window of opportunity while the public opinion
was still mixed about the content of obama care because my sense is once
these policies and programs start going into effect starting january first in
particular a lot of them
the court of public opinion is going to realize wait a second we we don't want
that republicans or democrats to take this away so i think that in that sense
there is this window of opportunity which is rapidly closing
believes zachariah and we are i think we're already beginning to see
uh... stats and changing public attitudes toward the former curator
we're already seeing
predisposed
showing that
many provisions of the actor very popular
i like the ones that begin to close the door hole in the medicare prescription
drug benefit in noel
uh... parents to i have heard children on their own their policies until age
twenty six if they can't find jobs that are benefit so but they're look by and
also that is most importantly the british in that requires insurance
needs to uh... take all comers and the words not to be able to discriminate as
they have been in years
past against people with pre-existing conditions so i think the window has
passed for
a lot of the the changes that
the opponents of the legislation uh... uh... where they wanted to do to it so i
think that will see it go four
let's go to what you alluded to before which is some of the choices that states
have now and i use the term choices a little bit loosely i guess
we're now starting to hear that certain of governors
republican governors
are going to choose not to put in place or at least they're now saying they will
not be putting in place these
uh... state exchanges which of course will trigger the government did the
federal government the putting that in place we're also hearing wrote some
resistance to
the expansions better put in place for the affordable care act talk a little
bit about
how could that play out at what's going on and how might that actually
play out with just a quick
free-for-all characters tons of fun
and in the state is not willing or ready to implement use exchange uh...
on jenny where the first two thousand fourteen actually show evidence
uh... during the coming year twenty thirty
and that it will
we able to operate for exchange in the government the federal government will
set one up and operated four of those for estate of all we have been seriously
is a mixed bag bc
a lot of states uh...
maybe the setter headed by
a democrat saying they will go for the middle of progress in getting things
ready
to have their changes
operational uh... you get some
states that they have republican governors that have been
waiting
became a wait-and-see uh...
uh... stance they they were waiting to see if the supreme court of uphold and
what would happen uh... on the most recent elections and now that uh...
uh... we see that is gonna go forward a lot of those states are now uh...
putting things in place to bailey spot not operate their own exchanges
mandy mentoring partnership with the federal government and then there are
some of those uh... that just simply essay
saying that they're not going to be doing it all
in those cases the federal government
uh... will step in and and set up an operator's changes so they will be in
place
is there not a rift that this idea of trying to card of drag down the
affordable care act by not setting up the exchange
could actually backfire in the sense that if the government does that then
sets up an exchange and it works more or less well
that it actually becomes even more evidence that
this was a good idea and actually hurts the the
the anti-obama care cause for lack of a better term
sorry yours correct i think that we will see these changes
will be successful
uh... some states will do them better than another person incident unity
remains to be seen hal
the federal government will operate uh...
uh... it changes in in numerous deadbeats which is probably the case but
i think it will be successful of you have any mention is that medicaid
expansion and some some governors are saying that they're not going to be
uh... taking the federal money to expand their medicaid programs and that's
something that is our project
as a consequence of the supreme court decision
i think uh... the vast majority of the states will
im go along and take that money issue
as you know
federal government will pay
iva seven of the expansion of the cost expansion of the medicaid program manzil
twenty sixteen and then uh... states begin to take a little bit more
responsibility but never more than ten percent that's the federal always pay at
least ninety percent of the uh... expense for the expansion of the
medicaid program that'll bring a lot of people in the congress people
renowned of answered individuals and families ah...
of two hundred thirty percent of the federal poverty line
the very big uh... big wave bring more people covers not seniors bursts
governors are saying they're not going to do it
they're going to be getting a lot of pressure from
writers of their own states as well as insurance companies i think
attitudes that that might be racking they're going through saying that now
for political purposes but i think when the time comes the wants to accept that
money
uh... that help uh... hospitals in particular are wanting to make sure that
uh... uh... did the medicaid program has expanded because
bliss will
uh... reduce the amount of uncompensated
cared too bad debt baby
uh... that had to uh... uh... communes wasn't always affected their bottom line
for many years now
absolutely i think that that is the way it's going to go in the end

the mars rover has made a discovery
that nasa is saying is one
for the history books
but they're not telling us what it is apparent it would have to wait until
next month to find out about it
they're saying it's something big
they are running additional test to make sure that the discovery does hold up
john graz ing girl who's the rover missions principal investigator said
quote this data is going to be one for the history books it's looking really
good
what could this be we are now we know that the data comes from a soil sample
that was analyzed by the rover sample analysis
and um...
that that's really all we know at this point now
we know that nasa is keeping this mostly under wraps because it could be a false
alarm
but you would think if there's still a chance it's a false alarm
don't tell us anything at all
well i mean they it must mean that there
pretty
pretty sure
it is with your thinking and what do you think it could be
but what could be one for the history books
uh... the
i don't know
i mean
you'd think if it was uh...
if there was some form of microbial why for fossilized
microbial like something like that
the they may be going to get more crazy
but uh...
well they think for the history books i am a treasure can you get these this is
nasa scientists say that i know one for the history books is different from this
one's going to change everything
they didn't find e_t_ we can safely say brightness on what do you think about
this what what do you think they found
uh... if it really is something that's been a shock
the american public or the world at large it's got to be something related
to life
uh... be there's something related to life having existed or existing on mars
or maybe something
uh... that is found on earth that they found on mars which means that there's
some sort of uh... connection between the soon may be
uh... some sort of uh... travel between the two at some point in history anna do
you think that base may have found a monolith what in two thousand one a
space odyssey biography collect
i really doubt it brilliant they found that one on the warner brothers said
i don't if i don't think they need to read additional tests and if in fact i
think i have
maybe they need to just to be totally sure that that's what it is
uh... you know what i hope they did what if they found uh... with the kind newt
gingrich
like already setting up the mars calling or something
that would be that be fascinating skipping the movie's going straight to
mark this if newt gingrich's on mars are ready setting up a colony it means he
has very fast relative ability i will never insult him again
a woman has been busted for driving a hundred miles an hour
her explanation for why he was doing it she's not denying it she's just saying i
was leading the lord's spirit guided me this is this is unusual she's a florida
woman lewis will not find that to be much of a surprise lewis
talking about incredible florida driving experiences many many times
officers in fort pierce observed forty one-year-old melissa miller driving a
silver toyota
south on u_s_ one
with her arm out the window blowing your horn for ten seconds according to the
police report
when she was stopped she's explained she had been driving so fast because the
lord
she was letting the lord spirit guide her and the lord was telling her to blow
the horn very specifically
dot is very very involved with pat robertson he was able to give pat
robertson a political message
using abraham lincoln quotes he was able to very specific with all this woman i
mean it's understandable god would tell people how fast the dr
break getting involved in the details of whether or not to blow your horn is
really specific
there's some serious mental illness here
you think that's what it is yes
but she also said that she uh...
will seize sister budget difference that
didn't got direct you lewis once to eg someone's house
i don't think it was god no
i think it was a friend of mine
dot also happens to go by the name captain morgan in this particular case
captain there's some there's some question about whether this was not a
mental illness issue but a drinking a drunk driving issue uh... but that's not
actually mentioned in the charges this is facing reckless driving speeding and
violating perfect probation
yeah i think a lot of people in that never once have has any of them said
uh...
begun influence them somehow actually think that this woman's religious
freedom was violated
what was he supposed to do is she's supposed to do so babel lowered because
of man imposed
artificial speed limits because he was right
i don't we've gotten really did want to go into mass transit this observation
though personal responsibility and heavy
religion
don't go together that well do that i mean this is a perfect example because
personal responsibility and but that wasn't god was telling me
and i don't know it doesn't seem like a giant
if god dat
demands
were in serious trouble mix-up yeah
what should happen to someone like this but i i didn't do it
should they be tried
like okay some people might really believe that god tells them to do stuff
for example pat robertson
and some people might just be mentally ill however their is a blurry line
between the two do you handle something like this as this woman is simply very
religious however she still broke the law or do you handle that this woman is
to be treated as a as a ward of the state she's mentally ill
well if you look at the picture that i've put up
uh... behind you i think you get the idea of that
there are a number of illicit drugs that can cause quote-unquote spiritual
experiences yeah um... for example l_s_d_ so now i don't want to jump to
conclusions but
certainly either this person is totally out of
her mind
or she went out of her mind because of the drug sheets of ok so a lot of
questions here
let's go to your voicemails our voice now line is available to twenty four
hours a day the number is two one nine
david p
hears a voice mail about our interview with brian fisher last week
medical work
want to come up and you go ahead and print additional recently agreed to have
these people who don't you
you having normal light bright future the anyway aren't you
c_n_n_ and other people
people like twenty perkins loan rachel camacho credible spokesperson
so uh... there is a different between you and were received on on from
television programs high like that i like that was now it is one of those
really get out
while you just giving a platform blah bla bla bla blah like when c_n_n_
doesn't it's really not c_n_n_ will often have these extreme anti-gay not on
as equivalent
points-of-view valid points of view on the one hand on the other hand we have
these people on the context is clearly
that i think that they're completely wrong and their kids and their opinions
are not even really valid id in in this society but i think it is very different
it is indeed and let's go to another voicemail about whether being gay is a
choice and other topic that came up with brian fish
need it
in on
you mean
you can hear me through the pad and i had a magnitude of being deanne bob
units were here
people are reading margarine mansion
and naren actually that
when it works on what will be romancing regain here nothing wrong with being gay
impairment children regained
in morgantown
if i have not heard begin out this is an interesting point actually which is
let's assume people are choosing to be gay
since when do we discriminate against people based on on lifestyle choices
even if they were ready i think this is a good point in time
but we don't want to go too far with it
only because
we don't want to look at the idea legitimacy the the problem is that uh...
and mind you i am not comparing the two things on the power to compare seriously
unjust
entering the mind of of a lunatic rightwing extremists yeah
what i say this but yeah if you take the case of like a child molester uh... i
think we could distinguish between a situation where the science says that
it's a lifestyle choice they're choosing to do it they know what's wrong in a
person who is just drawn
sick kids sexually and it's really a mental illness right i think we would
all agree that the solution to that problem would be different if we change
with the suppose it causes
so that's on site
okay so you actually think that it with you know you don't agree with the with
the the idea that it really is no of no consequence whether it's a try turning
out that the idea that only because um... we say something is alleged fell
choice verses just something that someone can control
in this case it might not be relevant
but they're certainly i don't want all planet everything because you can see
problems arise lewis
i mean i i agree with the time the is interesting to think about andy i mean
it's kind of like the uh...
it's kind of like uh...
bomb which is named the senator
uh...
three muslim muslim dot
two thousand
saying so what if the president was you know vocal on how it was the one who
said that yes late what if he was a moslem yadav yahoo because of that very
good point
alright keep the voice of coming to one ninety david before midnight tonight are
cyber monday special david paxton dot com slash cyber monday
