A small, rural, road
in the midst of vines and cypress...
there appears
Chateau des Tours' country house
Created in 1989 by Emmanuel Reynaud,
this domain is his third
property.
When Jacques Reynaud, his uncle,
passed away in 1997,
Emmanuel became in charge
of Chateau Fonsalette and Chateau Rayas,
one of Chateauneuf-du-Pape's jewel.
Chateau des Tours, however, doesn't rely on Rayas' reputation.
Emmanuel Reynaud vinifies 6 cuvées out of this property's 40 ha.
Two "vin de pays" called "domaine."
One Vacqueyras and two Cotes-du-Rhones
And a Rosé Vin de Table.
At Chateau des Tours, we live following the vines' rhythm
and its wines are not inpatient to deliver all of their potential.
Time is to me the most important factor
We've to let time take his course...
In life, no one can discover everything right away
One should never rush,
as we should let children grow up,
we have to let grapes mature,
we have to allow time for the fermentation to be done,
we have to learn how to wait for a wine to deliver its beauty;
there are indeed vintages offering wines more or less open for business
some "small vintages" because the wines will be appreciated earlier,
some "small vintages" because the wines will be appreciated earlier,
and other vintages that we've should be able to wait for.
Wasting potential is a pity..
...as the winegrower works hard
year long to shape his vines; plus the ultimate
goal is to share a great pleasure with others, and not
to drink a label or a reputation.
Wine, here, is made in the old-fashion way
Meaning no green harvesting, except for young vines
No extraction and only some reassembly
Traditional wine-making
doesn't imply inertia
The storehouse is vast and relatively modern.
The fermenting room includes
some tall steel vats, where the wines slowly come to maturity.
At last, he doesn't use barrels to soften the tannins.
Time makes his course on an already noble matter.
The "Vin de Pays" white is 100% clairette
fresh and clear, it can be paired with seafood.
The "Vin de Pays" red is a bled of Grenache, Counoise, Syrah, Cinsault, Merlot and Douce
is both gourmand and compelling.
The Cotes-du-Rhone white, all Grenache,
is inevitable with its acidic fruit bouquet
As for the reds, the Vacqueyras and Cotes-du-Rhone are two wines to rest for at least five years.
Which terms are most commonly used to describe your wines?
Freshness...Fruit...
To me, wine is a fruit basket...fruits that we've to discover, to munch.
A wine tasting at the Chateau des Tours isn't a anodyne experience.
What if, at last, we've discovered this wine..
...we take pleasure drinking and re-drinking?
