A pre-trial hearing for Lee Seok-ki , the leftist lawmaker accused of plotting an armed
rebellion against his own government, was held on Monday.
Lee appeared at the hearing at Suwon District Court where his lawyers said that the prosecutors'
arraignment was "falsely written." Lee's lawyers also argued that prosecutors
should not be allowed to submit evidence at the pre-trial hearing ahead of the actual
trial saying it would unfairly bias the court's ruling.
While proceedings were being carried out inside the courtroom, more than 3-hundred members
from conservative civic groups were gathered outside, calling for Lee's minor opposition
Unified Progressive Party to be disbanded. Lee was indicted last month on charges of
sedition.
