One Festival of Arts,
one Auckland Orchestra and 100 school students
will merge together to create a captivating evening
of dance and music as part of the Southside Festival.
He's no newcomer to the performing stage,
but he certainly has his work cut out for him this time around.
This isn't kapa haka,
and it isn't ballet;
it's a merge of different dance genres.
It's a new experience for Patterson -
teaching school students to dance to the music played by
the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
There's always a Maori aspect to his work.
Four schools are participating,
which includes tutors from Auckland University.
Then there's Wiri Central School, Tangaroa College,
and for these students of Pakuranga Intermediate,
it's an exciting opportunity.
They have three months
to practise and perfect the choreography
before their performance on the 31st of October.
