Jason back in the Delaware Gymnasium where the Columbus State Cougars are in the midst
of another standout year. In fact, the cougars are once again perched
in the national top-ten division two teams among junior colleges. Under the leadership
of Head Coach Pat Carlisle - theyÕve spent the better part of the past two seasons there
- which included a few weeks as the number one ranked team in the poll.
Pat Carlisle, CSCC MenÕs Basketball Coach: ItÕs got to be a passion and work ethic to
make things happen. After that you have to be detailed not only during the (EDIT/SPLICE)
season but spring and summer as well as having a plan to get players to commit to play for
you. Last season, one of CarlisleÕs players was
signed by a division-one university. Standouts this season include
Dominick Haynes, CSCC Basketball Player: (38:04) He always gives us advice when we need it.
On the court, he always has new things for us to do, drills and activities to learn.
He helps us in every way possible. If we mess up, heÕs there to correct us.
The challenge ahead: maintaining the top-ten ranking as the Cougars prepare for districtsÉwith
hopes of a return to the national championships for the third straight year. That would be
a first for the college.
