In his last destination the Energy Ambassador meets the new continent and 200 conference guests.
Pentti also gets to enjoy a luxury treatment.
Ten countries, dozens of innovations, one mission
This is the Energy Ambassador 2013, on the trail of innovations
OK, I'm supposed to meet Maissa from Merinova here at the Le Palace Hotel.
I just had a very long flight from Shanghai but Maissa promised to take that into account.
I have just arrived in Tunisia, I would be lying if I'd say that I wasn't a bit tired.
Fortunately my hostess Maissa took me to this spa. So let´s see what she has prepared for me.
So here we are, going to a honey bath.
We couldn't take the camera into the steaming Hammam spa, but the relaxing bath really hit the spot!
The steam bath was exactly what I needed. Now I am fresh and ready for a new week.
The history of the Mediterranean trading centre goes all the way back to Hannibal and Carthage. These ruins remind us of that.
Trading remains anyhow deep in the nation's traditions.
They have for instance very strong relations to the EU.
The Arab Spring movement started here in 2011.
The country has a high level of education, freedom of religion and the women are strongly represented in the parliament.
And thus a promising future.
Tunisia is often mentioned as the gate to Africa and that's the gate that Merinova has now opened.
EnergyDays is a very special event here in Tunis.
The event is managed from Finland and Merinova's target is to unite the Finnish energy know how with North African companies.
There is a great potential in Africa, so now I need to hurry.
The Finnish ambassador greeted the guests of the EnergyDay's welcome to her residence in three languages.
I also got the opportunity to welcome the guests.
Here we are, this is the EnergyDays!
The conference is full of people that discuss the opportunities of cooperation between Finland and Tunisia
Here are representatives from the industry, investors, trade unions from Tunisia and Libya, banks and also the Finnish ambassador.
Everybody is thrilled about the great number of participants and hopeful about the future.
This is how business is made!
I am really proud of the participants from Finland
and all the participants that have joined this events and invest a lot of time and effort.
So I have high expectations.
This event has been received really well.
We have here altogether 30 companies from the Vaasa region, both leading companies and smaller ones.
And more than 200 North African investors and energy company representatives.
This is a three day event. During the first day we heard about the opportunities in Tunisia
and during the following days the Finns get to tell about their know how.
During the lunches and coffee breaks the both parties get together to exchange ideas.
The Tunisian company Tunur, had one of the most interesting presentations.
They will construct a 2 GW solar power plant in southern Tunisia
and they came to the event to find Finnish partners to this project.
We noticed in Finland that the companies there have many things in common
and that we can support each other when going for business in Tunisia and Africa generally.
Yes, this has been a very interesting event,
Especially yesterday there where many potential customers present
and we got several interesting business contacts.
Here are many industrial projects that VEO is interested about. And especially the steel and cement industries are the ones that we focus on.
The EnergyDays that was arranged by Merinova was a huge success.
The hotel was full of people and participants gave praised the arrangements and the event itself.
The EnergyDays is now a hot concept and for instance the Libyans want to bring the event to Libya.
In Tunisia the event will be arranged again next year
and the Finnish companies also asked about the next event, because they want to come again.
Everything went perfect: two thumbs up!
This adventure has now come to an end, and it's time to head for the North.
Tunisia was the best possible destination to end this journey!
I still have a final report to write for Team Finland so let's start moving towards Finland!
