G'day I'm Brett.
I thought I'd upgrade my original Land Rover intercooler
with an uprated double core performance intercooler from Allisport
so we'll put this in and see what kind of performance enhancements we get.
Installation is easy just drain the coolant, remove the hoses and cowling and than pry
out the radiator frame.
The radiator frame needs to be modified to accommodate the greater depth of the new intercooler.
This Allisport double core intercooler has 80% greater surface area than the original.
The standard power and torque on this graph is with the new intercooler already installed
so it does not accurately represent the performance increase over the original intercooler.
With the new intercooler and correct tuning these were the results.
The result it was worth every dollar.
Throttle response is better, turbo lag reduced, and I'm now getting up hills in 4th gear where
previously had to switch down to third with my foot to the floor just to get up them.
It's like driving a different car.
The Exhaust Gas Temperatures have also decreased I used to get up to early to mid 600's during
heavy driving, now I get up to mid 500's at the most.
All up it cost around $1100 Australian dollars for the intercooler and professional dyno
tuning. I'd say it was definitely worth the effort.
hooroo.
