Film making is very much based on rituals.
There is the overall ritual -- an idea.
The story, shooting, editing, music. The overall ritual of the film
And then you have a daily ritual. Getting up in the morning and worrying, and then getting
to the set and seeing all the people and getting less worried. Starting to shoot and forgetting
to worry. At the end of the day if you're still worried, then you have reason to be
worried.
The ritual of working on a movie is beautiful to me and that's the fun of it.
I like to make movies that allow you to learn and allow you to explore. And I like that
I don't know the outcome when I start it.
so for me the process is also an adventure.
I have made several films about other artists because I like to explore the differences
but I also like to find out what all these artistic occupations have in common and where
the grade of energy comes from
I was amazed making a film about a fashion designer. How much his work resembled the
work of a film maker. The ritual The imagination that went into it.
The entire process was not so different as to when I make a movie
All crafts are related. Every art is somehow based upon a certain
craft. It's something you can learn and be good at. If you're good at one thing you mind
or with a pencil or with brushes and colors and once you're good at it, the craft is in
your blood, it's in your system. Whether its making cheese our work is not that different
