Pavel Bure, world champion in ice hockey, silver medallist of the 1998 Olympic Games
You probably know that today a tragedy occurred the son of Victor Vasilyevich Tikhonov died.
So I think it would be wrong to say something about some personal achievements, when there has been such a tragedy.
Viktor Tikhonov is the closest person to me, the man who trained and taught me.
And I knew his son Vasily very well. But today there was such a tragedy, and I think it wrong to discuss any other issues.
Of course, I talked more with Victor, so he took me to the masters team when I was 16 years old, and I played in the team with him in the late 1980s.
I also knew Vasily; I know he was a very good professional coach in San Jose and in the NHL, and I met him there.
And I know his son Victor.
I talked to Victor today, I know that the team is now flying to Finland, and he returned to Moscow, together with the manager.
I called him up today and expressed my condolences to him.
First of all, it is a great tragedy when a man dies in his prime. It is hard to say something.
I know it's hard right now both for his son and for his father.
