Roda 2006,
the wines in Roda always are those in whose vineyards the ripening has been of a red profile
and in this case the 2006 vintage was a vintage that seems to us it was good,
but not that it was going to reach the levels which have reached.
A rainy year
with a rainy spring also, a lot of vegetation,
the beginning of the summer was stormy, but later a dry summer
and the autumn at the beginning of the harvest was also dry.
In this case Roda 2006 has 97% tempranillo and 3% graciano.
It has been ageing 16 months in barrel,
a 50% new and a 50% used,
like in all the Rodas of French oak.
It is a wine with a very important award,
because it has been the best wine of the world elaborated with Spanish varieties,
I speak of red wines
and this has been said by Decanter magazine, one of the most prestigious.
We are going to taste it.
The colour is of a red background, but a very ripe red cherry.
On the nose, there is a marvelous balance between the fruit and the oaky,
the aromas are perceived easily and almost leave when you are moving the glass,
very fine spices,
this creamy and fruity touch
with the feeling of the cherry, on the palate it is really amazing,
of a medium-high volume, it fills perfectly the mouth,
it comes up to me to the background with a marked retronasal passage,
it has a marvelous feeling of freshness, a wine with an impeccable balance.
This wine can be used to combine with all the meals
but also with complicated dishes.
The elegance, the finesse, the brand of Roda,
the freshness, and the polished tannin are here, in this example Roda 2006.
