I went to two, three colleges before I joined the Army and then I knew I wanted to be a
nurse but there was no money for college. So I joined to get experience. I was a medic
in the Army so I ran sick call, I took care of soldiers, did immunizations. I knew I wanted
to continue with medicine and nursing is very flexable in and there is so many different
types of jobs I can have, and I can be anywhere in the world. I didn't think I'd ever fit
in, but because UWM has so many different kinds of students. Veterans, older non-traditonal
students, everyone. I feel like I belong here. I'm Rose Mattek and I'm a junior at the nursing
college.
