Hi, I'm Tamara from mooglyblog.com and I'm going to show you how to do the bobble stitch,
or double crochet five together. Here's a very small sample of the blackberry salad
stitch and when you work the bobble you're actually working it from the wrong side. So
we're going to go ahead and turn it over. This is the back. As you can see I've already
started this row. On either side of a bobble you're always going to have single crochet
stitches. I've already done the first three single crochets of this row so I'll do one
more
and then I'll start the bobble stitch. What you want to do is start to double crochet
into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. Rather than
yarning over and pulling through and finishing the stitch, start a second double crochet..
You do the same thing. Just go through the first two. At this point you'll have three
loops on the hook. Since this is double crochet five together - is the kind of bobble we use
- you want to keep going until you've started five double crochets but not finish any of
them. This means that you will have six loops - the tops of the five double crochets plus
your original loop - left on the hook. So there we have it. You've got your original
loop and five double crochets started. When you've got these on the hook, yarn over one
last time and pull all of them together into one. Bend them towards you a little bit and
do a nice tight single crochet right in the next stitch. This creates the bobble on the
other side of the fabric. For this pattern you do three single crochets between each
bobble. So there's the three single crochets and we'll do another one. Yarn over and start
the double crochet. Stop there. Do another double crochet into the same stitch. Each
time you do this you're working the same stitch of the previous row. Keep starting double
crochets until you've made five, which leaves you with six loops on the hook. There's your
six loops. Yarn over, pull them together and bend it forward towards you, add a single
crochet into the next stitch. One more just to lock it down. We'll flip it over… There
you can see. We just made two bobbles, just like in the blackberry salad stitch blanket.
Thanks for watching!
