Hi, my name's Sarah, I'm in my 3rd year studying history.
I chose my course because I always really enjoyed history at school
and also at 6th form
and when I was deciding what to study at University
my history teacher told me that I should choose a subject that I really enjoyed
and he kind of encouraged me to start there
and so that's really the decision as to why I studied History.
The thing that's unique about my course is that this year in my 3rd year,
I've had the oppurtunity to do a work experience module.
So one day a week I'll go out and have a whole day at a historical organisation,
rather than being at university, so it gives me the oppurtunity
to follow what people do in the history field
and decide whether or not I'd like to do that in the future.
The thing that I enjoy most about my course is probably
in seminars we have a lot of discussions and debates
and I really like to get into that, I think it really helps with exams.
I'm assessed mainly this year through exams, essays
and also I had to write a 10,000 word dissertation.
My main challenge when I came to university,
was probably that I was very shy
and through being a Student Ambassador and also doing presentations
and debates in class, I've managed to overcome that.
