_Also, we've got your weekly Golden Eagle primetime sports report with Jessika Brehemer. -All this, and more.
Welcome back, this is Del Oro News season 1 episode 11. I'm Jansen Engelbrecht.
Good morning, I'm Lida Landre.
Would you like to be a supporter of the Loomis Basin Education Foundation?
If so,
-you could run a 5K, 10K, or a half-marathon and the upcoming Manda Run. -And if you don't like running
you can always walk it, but remember, it's important to be there to support the
local schools you came from.
The Manda Run
is a run that's put on by the Loomis Basin Education Foundation,
that's designed to raise money for the Loomis Union School District.
The manda run consists of a 5K, a 10K,
and a half-marathon,
and the goal of the Manda Run is to bring the
entire community toegether
for this event to raise money for our schools.
Definately, the students should run the Manda Run, because it's going to help their overall
fitness and it's going towards a good cause towards our community and helping the pyhsical
-education program course. -They can expect an outstanding course for the half-marathon. It starts in Auburn and
makes its way through Miller Town all the way down
to downtown Loomis.
This year our finish line
is now
on Taylor Road, so
as all the races
finish, they finish down Taylor.
Additionally, runners can expect
great support from hundreds of volunteers,
a terrific day,
uh... lots of vendors will be there,
and uh... lots of of our local businesses
are supporting it by having specials for
the runners that day.
The Manda Run will be held on the 18th of this month,
and for more information you can go to www.mandarun.com.
I will see you there.
Have any extra cans stocked up in your cabinets
Help support the KCRA 3 Kids Can Food Drive to feed hungry families in
our community.
All you have to do is bring canned, non-perishable, food items into your first block class
-up until the 20th. -There are prizes for the classes with
the most points for bringing in cans.
We also have special days where you can earn double points. The first oppurtunity to earn double points
will be tomorrow
so bring in canned beans.
You can take a look at the blog post for more information on other double point days.
After a quick commercial break we'll have your primetime sports report
and a look into the daily lfie of the Del Oro Golden Eagle.

Virtual reality...
Welcome back. Ever wondered what the Eagle does when they're not cheering for
our football team?
Lida and I spent a day with the mighty bird to find out what they like to do.
Check this out!
I'm Jansen Engelbrecht here interviewing Isacc Jorgenson
to find out about our Eagle.
What's your favorite part about the eagle?
I think it's cool that nobody knows who it is.
I think that's
one of the best kept secrets here at Del Oro. I think that's neat.
What would be your favorite part about being the Eagle if you were?
Being able to, you know, get people pumped up. I mean, people look to you
as an example for,
you know, spirit, and to be able to...inaudiable.
It's extremely hot in the suit. It smells
disgusting,
and all that makes it sound bad, but it's actually pretty fun. My favorite part has definately got to be
like, the momentum of walking down the stairs and going through the fans, and everybody, like, screaming at you "Hey Eagle! Hey Eagle!".
The majority of people, I think, like, kids more,
like the Eagle and
like the
people in the black hole really like the Eagle. And then there's those, like, other kids that
aren't, like, into sports pr anything and they're just like "Oh, the eagle" and they just try and beat you up.
-I bet it's hot in there. -I bet!
Now it's time to check in with Jessika Brehemer for our weekly sports update.
Thanks guys, I'm Jessika Brehemer and this is your primetime sports report.
I'm starting with the best news first. Our very own varsity football team
had an amazing victory agianst Rocklin, which now leads them to the playoffs.
It was an intense game with great touchdowns form Brandon Monroe, and an amazing field
goal by Del Oro kicker Skylar Rand with two seconds left leaving the final score
as 38-35.
Now we have proved that thunder is just a noise.
Boys varsity water polo made it section championships. Great job playing your hearts out!
You had an awesome season!
Girls volleyball beat Roseville to qualify for sections also.
They also beat Elk Grove for their first playoff game.
Make sure you come support your team in their second playoff game in the Bonner Gym
after school today.
In the NFL, we have some upcoming games on the 11th.
The Raiders vs. the Ravens. The Falcons vs. the Saints.
And the Rams vs. the 49's, and those are just a few.
The Sacramento Kinds played the Golden State Warriors on Monday. The Kings pulled
a 94-92 win against the warriors.
Other wins this week include the L.A. Lakers over the Pistons and the Miami
Heat over the Pheonix suns.
Well, that's all I have for you today. Thanks for watching, I'm Jessika Brehemer.
Have a great week! Back to you LIda.
