Malou: Hi everyone and welcome to Know Your PC. I'm Malou. Bob: And I am Bob.
Malou: And this right here is the HP TouchSmart PC, the IQ500 series.
Bob: That's right. And today we're going to be learning a little bit more about some of
the TouchSmart software and what it can do for you. What are we going to learn today Malou?
Malou: We're going to have some fun.
I'm going to show you how to create and edit text notes and also voice notes.
Bob: Yey! Malou: Okay?
Bob: I love notes.
Malou: Get your voice ready. Bob: Okay. Mi-mi-mi.
Malou: All right, so I'm going to launch the HP TouchSmart home screen.
I'm going to touch the little house here on the little right corner. Bob: All right.
Malou: All right. So I have my large tiles here because these are the things that I like to
get to on a daily basis. So I have notes up there.
Bob: All right. Malou: I'm going to tap notes.
Bob: Opening notes.
Malou: Opening notes. And now you have the new bulletin board.
The new refrigerator. All your notes. Isn't that nice?
Bob: Oh, so if I leave a note so it's here so there's no more whiteboard, no more refrigerator.
Malou: No more thumbtacks, no more magnets.
Bob: Awesome. Yeah, the last time I did a thumbtack ... watch out.
Malou: All right. Paper cut?
Bob: Yeah. Well, I don't want to talk about it.
Malou: Okay. Let's create a note here for you. In the bottom left corner of the screen here,
there's a little happy face. I'm going to tap that.
Bob: Okay. Malou: Here's your little notepad.
Bob: It says ‘write a note,' we're going to write a note.
Malou: We are going to write a note. There are a few ways to write notes. Bob: All right.
Malou: Let's first select the note'spad color. It's sort of a ...
Bob: Green? Yeah. A light green.
Malou: It's any color you want it to be. Bob: All right.
Malou: Okay? And then you have a pen right here. So now your finger is the new pen.
Bob: Ooh. What's up finger? Are you ready for some writing action?
Malou: So I've tapped the pen. Bob: Okay.
Malou: And this is just a one way to write a note. So you see the [inaudible] have different colors.
Bob: Okay.
Malou: So you can choose any color that you want.
Bob: All right. Well, it's red, I'm wearing red, let's do red.
Malou: Red. Okay. And so now, remember what I just told you? Bob: Okay.
Malou: This is the new pen.
Bob: All right. Show me your pen work. Penmanship.
Malou: Touch the screen and I'm going to write. Look at this. isn't that nice?
Bob: Hi. Malou: Hi there. How's it going?
Bob: It's fine. How are you?
Malou: Very good. Thank you. Listen, there's a little circle right here. If you adjust it ...
Bob: You adjust the ... Malou: I'll show you, the thickness of your font.
Bob: Oh, so now it's thicker.
Malou: Look at that. Hi B.
Bob: B. Some people call me B. Some people call me Bob.
Malou: See, that's how you write.
Bob: Some people call me Be...ob.
Malou: That's how you write with your finger. You can also ... let's see, since I messed that up a little bit.
Bob: All right.
Malou: There's an eraser here. Bob: All right.
Malou: I can erase all that. Look at this. Bob: Oh, very cool.
Malou: Isn't that fun? Bob: I used to like to smell erasers.
Malou: Clean slate. Bob: Yeah.
Malou: The other way to create a text is by tapping the ABC right here. Bob: Right.
Malou: And then if you touch here where the little cursor is, it brings up the input panel.
I tap that, you could see there are other ways to write a text. Bob: Okay.
Malou: See, I have a little keyboard right here. I'm going to tap the keyboard.
Bob: So there's a screen keyboard and a physical keyboard.
Malou: Exactly. So, if I hit the spacebar here and I want to write “Hi Bob” again,
I tap H-I B-O-B. There we go. See that? And there's another section right here
where you tap on that and it detects you're writing. Bob: Okay.
Malou: If I did an H right there and I did an I right there,
you see it just automatically reads it, it detects it.
Bob: It started to put it in ... Malou: Yes.
Bob: Okay, so let's say ...
Malou: Oh, I made a mistake. That's not an I. So if I want to erase I can also just take my finger
and go to the left really fast and it erases it. Bob: What?
Malou: Isn't that nice? Bob: I love that.
Malou: Let's say I'm done. Bob: All right, we're done.
Malou: I have to tap Done. Bob: Okay.
Malou: There is the note. I can move the note up to the top here. You can move all your notes around.
Also, I want you to see that when you tap on the note ...
Bob: It comes back up.
Malou: Okay. Bob: Okay.
Malou: Done again.
Bob: So, can I make a note now? Malou: Yes, you can make a note.
Bob: Okay. Malou: All right.
Bob: So I noticed. I note-iced that there ... Malou: Ugh!
Bob: Sorry. Is some pictures here. So many little [inaudible] a picture note I guess. I'm going to choose purple.
Malou: You like purple?
Bob: Sure. I feel that purple will bring out the essence of my note the best. Malou: Oh wow!
Bob: That's a very artistic approach. So I'm going to do little land here.
Malou: Isn't that pretty? Bob: And then I'm going to make a palm tree.
Malou: Are you an artist?
Bob: No. Clearly. I'm going to make a nice sun and some rays. Malou: That's nice.
Bob: Let's go to that beach. Malou: Are you all done?
Bob: I'm all done.
Malou: Okay. So you can see that your note's going to post here as well. Put it up to the top.
If you want to get rid off one you could drag it in the trash.
Bob: Cripples it up, puts in the trash.
Malou: Right. What if I put yours in the trash?
Bob: Don't do that! Oh! Why are you doing that to me?
Malou: You can go back. Bob: That's beautiful.
Malou: You can go back. So I'm going to tap trash, you could take it out of the trash.
Bob: There it is. Thank you. Thank you.
Malou: So, we tap on your note.
Bob: All right. Restore definitely. Let's restore them both.
I don't feel like throwing anything away right now. Malou: Okay. Done.
Bob: I feel very vulnerable after that.
Malou: So there your note is still there. And you notice that when you do tap on the note
it brings it in large form, right? Bob: [inaudible] style.
Malou: All right. So that's the way that you create a text note. There's another kind.
Bob: Give it to me.
Malou: A voice note. All right. So we have little microphone here.
We're going to tap the microphone. Now we have little recording panel. Bob: Okay.
Malou: So, I'm going to tap record and you start talking. The microphones are right here.
Bob: Okay. Malou: Itibitiones.
Bob: Okay. Do I have to be close or anything like that?
Malou: You're fine right there. Bob: Okay.
Malou: You're ready? Bob: Yup.
Malou, I just want to let you know your mom's coming in to town
and you had better clean up your room.
Malou: All right. Let's play. So there's a little play button here.
Bob: Malou, I just want to let you know your mom's coming in to town
and you had better clean up your room. Malou: Do you like that?
Bob: I do. Because you have a dirty room.
Malou: All right. So make sure that when you record your voice like that that you tap keep.
Bob: All right. I want to keep the voice.
Malou: You want to keep that. The cool thing about the audio notes or the voice notes is
that you can add a text if you want. Bob: Okay.
Malou: Okay? Now if you do add a text or you don't add a text, when you are done,
even though you've already recorded the voice note, you have to make sure that you
tap done for it to post. Okay?
Bob: All right. So this is like step two and we are done with step two, move on.
Malou: Okay. We're good? Bob: Got it.
Malou: Done. Bob: Done.
Malou: So there you have the voice note. Bob: And you created it 22 seconds ago.
Malou: I'm going to put it up there. Bob: Exist up there. Okay.
Malou: And we're all done. So, to bring it back to the home screen,
when you walk in you can see that you have three notes waiting for you.
Bob: That's awesome. Malou: You like that?
Bob: I love that. Malou: Okay, we are all done.
Bob: Lets me know when I got to check my notes.
Malou: So, it's a lot of fun. Now you know how to create and edit text notes and voice notes.
Bob: Thanks guys. If you have any questions, always go to hp.com/touchsmart or ...
