My name is Cloudia, I come from the
south part of China, I took the course because
I wanted to turn my professional career,
I'd like to be an independent curator after the course.
The course is lovely, it has different cultures
which brings us into diversity brainstorming
and it provides good chance to meet the designer,
the artist, the curator, which is very good.
Hi, my name is Ann-Michael Waldvogel, and
I'm an American student studying here in London,
I chose the course because I've been working
in the arts industry for a couple of years. I did
a master’s programme in London, two years prior to this
and that was in art business, so I've been very focussed
more on the art world, I studied History of Art before
with the art business course
I began working for a gallery which was focussed
more on design and it was a field I didn't know
very much about, but I'd always been very interested in.
So I was really looking at this courses professional development
and started researching different design courses
that I could take and being at the Design Museum
is one of the forefronts of Design Museums worldwide
and Kingston's art programme as well, is world renowned
So it was something which looked very interesting to me
so I started researching it a little bit more and
I thought it was a really great opportunity for me to take
So, I did the course, I'm on the course now
and it's been a really fantastic opportunity I think
I mean in all situations like this it might not have always
been exactly what I thought it would be coming in, but
we have had such fantastic opportunities to meet
curators from, you know, museums and galleries
across the world, from London and so many other
outside study opportunities, it's just been a really great
opportunity and experience for me so far and I think
I might have a bit of a different take on things
than some students coming in because I am currently
working and I'm already sort of in art and design field
So I'm not really able to take up a lot of the internships
and other work study opportunities that a lot
of the students are afforded and there are
fantastic opportunities for that and I'm quite jealous
to a certain degree, you know, we work so closely
with the Design Museum and I know a lot of people on the course
are working within different department within
the museum and it's a fantastic opportunity but
at the same time for someone who has a bit more
work experience and isn't really looking for
something like that, I'm still making a lot of
professional career developments, just by meeting
all of these people and I'm able to talk to them,
incorporating what I do work wise with the course as well
My name's Sarah, I'm studying full time on the course
since last September. The thing that attracted me
to the course is the fabulous location, but also
the different cultures that are brought to the course
we've got students from all around the world and it
means you're shown so many different levels
of curating, and also the staff are fantastic and they
constantly look to develop the course. If there's an
element of the course you feel you'd like to be
taught in, all you've got to do is tell them
and then within weeks you'll know all about it
But also, one thing I didn't realise when I joined the course
are the different things you'll be doing, we've had lectures
at Selfridges, curating window displays, the V&A
about internet sites, there are just so many
different levels to the course and maybe you
don't know that when you come, but it is
really a great element to the course.
