How to Make Mulled Cider. Nothing takes the chill out of a brisk night like this winter
favorite. You will need A large pot A qt. of fresh apple cider A cinnamon stick 2 brown
sugar 1 tsp. whole cloves 1 tsp. whole allspice A strainer And 4 mugs or cups A piece of cheesecloth
Some string Zest of one lemon and 1 rum, whiskey, or brandy. Step 1. Pour the cider and brown
sugar into a large pot. Add the cinnamon, cloves, and allspice. Bring it to a boil.
Tying the cinnamon, cloves, and allspice in cheesecloth makes straining at the end easier.
Step 2. Once the mixture is boiling and the brown sugar has fully dissolved, lower the
heat to a simmer. For extra zip, add the zest of one lemon. Step 3. Allow the cider to simmer
for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Step 4. When the cider is ready, turn off the heat
and strain the mixture into four mugs. For an added kick, add a dash of rum, whiskey,
or brandy--that'll really warm you up. Did you know Research shows that cloudy apple
cider has much more antioxidants than the clear kind.
