This episode of Help! My Business Sucks! is made possible by INFUSION, the #1 marketing
automation software.
Coming up on today's show... Disney’s Dramatic Dining Disaster (wait till you hear about
THAT one), a question about the best video camera to use for making online video, a nifty
resource that allows you to grab all kinds of software for free, and a BIG marketing
lesson in what NOT to do from Valenti Matchmaking. I’m Andrew Lock, and THIS is the show that
helps entrepreneurs like YOU to get more done, and have more fun.
Wow, what a week. Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, and Billy Mays. If you haven’t seen the
show ‘Pitchmen’ on Discovery channel, you might not know who Billy Mays is - he’s
probably the most well known pitchman on TV infomercials. So, that was a sad week, for
sure.
I was down in Disney World last week for a few days with my lovely wife Luci, and after
a long hot day in the park, we thought we’d treat ourselves to the premier restaurant
in the Magic Kingdom, called ”The Royal Table”. Apparently, it’s the ‘ultimate
dining experience’, and it even takes place up INSIDE Cinderella’s castle – I know!
So we were excited to be there, and...that’s where our excitement ended. Let me tell you
what happened, and let me preface this by saying that I love Disney, I’m a big fan
of them as a company, and that’s kinda why I’m SO surprised about what we experienced
last week. When we first sat down at the table we were handed THIS plastic menu, which seemed
more in keeping with a fast food DINER, than a prestigious restaurant. So the first impression
wasn’t great. But, we ordered our 3 items, an appetizer, entrée, and desert - a crème
brulee. The food was nicely presented, but honestly, very bland. But then things started
to go downhill fast. We’d just taken a few bites of our appetizers when our entrees appeared!
And then, a few bites INto our main course, our server appeared again and asked us how
we’d like to pay for the meal! After the bill was placed on our table, we were THEN
told that there was no more Crème Brulee, BUT we could have some vanilla ice-cream instead!
By this point we were certainly puzzled (and disappointed) and we wondered why we were
rushed along, even though this was 10pm and the last sitting of the night! The cost of
this experience was $50 plus a compulsory 18% tip, WITH a space on the bill for an additional
tip of course. You know, we really were disappointed, especially since Disney has such a great reputation.
For the price they charged, it was a joke. I’ve eaten at some of the finest restaurants
in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and many more, and by comparison this Disney
meal was a joke. Apart from the location, there was nothing about it that was memorable
in a good way, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to a friend, like you! Now, based
on the experience you just heard, do you think I’m being overly harsh on Disney, or do
you think it’s a justified complaint? I’d love to know what you think. $110 for 2 people
is a reasonable chunk of change for a meal without wine, but should I have just expected
it to be naff, because it was in the castle, or should it have been better? Let me know.
And if you know someone who works for Disney, I’d love to know what Disney thinks about
this situation at the castle. Like I said before, I’m a BIG fan of Disney, but this
‘royal table’ restaurant is far from royal. For now, for me, it’s more like the Disney
diner! Add your comment by clicking on the ‘add your comment’ link ABOVE the video

And NOW it's time for your QUESTIONS, with 'Ask Andrew...'
------------------------------------------------ Here's a question from Garrick Newman at TheHomeHunter.com.
Garrick writes, “Hi Andrew, when filming a video for use on a website, is there is
there a certain type of video camera or format that is best to use?”
Well, this is a good question, and the general principle is, the quality of the final video
will directly relate to the camera that you use to capture the footage in the first place.
for a 24 hour period. After that, you can still find it, but it won’t be free. I guess
image advertising. It’s basically saying, ‘we’re here, and we’re really good.
See you next week…
