ERNIE: Hiya.
Today, we're going to talk about matching things that
look the same.
Now, right here in front of me, I've got a nice big plate
of cookies.
And I've got all different kinds of cookies
on the plate here.
For instance, now, here's a nice cookie right here.
See this cookie?
This cookie's a nice, round cookie.
And it's got sort of a crisscross of icing on it.
See that?
OK, now what I'm going to try to do is find another cookie
that matches this cookie, that looks just like it.
Now, now, here's a cookie.
Let's look at these two together.
Now, you see, it's the same size.
And you can see that it's the same shape.
But this cookie over here does not have a crisscross of icing
on it like this cookie has.
You see that?
So these two cookies do not match.
Hmm, we'll look around some more to see if I can find one
that matches this one.
Now, here's a cookie.
Look at these two.
Now, these two cookies are exactly the same shape.
And the little cookie has a crisscross.
And the big cookie has a crisscross.
But they're not the same size, are they?
Because this one's little bitty, and
this one's great big.
So these cookies here don't match either, do they?
Hmm, this cookie matching is a lot harder than
I thought it was.
COOKIE MONSTER: Dum, de dum, de dum, dum, dum, dum, dum.
ERNIE: Somewhere around here, there must be a cookie--
COOKIE MONSTER: Hey.
ERNIE: --that matches the--
COOKIE MONSTER: Ooh, cookie.
Hey, Ernie?
ERNIE: Oh, what's that?
COOKIE MONSTER: I hear you say that cookie
matching is not easy.
ERNIE: Well, that's true.
Cookie matching is quite difficult, actually, um, hmm.
COOKIE MONSTER: Not for me.
ERNIE: Not for you?
COOKIE MONSTER: No.
Me real good at cookie matching.
ERNIE: Oh, I find that rather hard to believe, actually.
COOKIE MONSTER: Oh, OK.
What cookie you want me to match?
I show you.
ERNIE: Well, you see this cookie here?
COOKIE MONSTER: Let me see.
Yeah, yeah.
ERNIE: You see this cookie?
COOKIE MONSTER: Yeah.
ERNIE: Now, that's a round cookie.
And it's got sort of a crisscross of
icing on it, you see?
COOKIE MONSTER: Uh, huh.
ERNIE: But what I'm trying to do is find another cookie that
looks just like this.
COOKIE MONSTER: OK, stand back.
I do it.
Here we go.
I prepared to do it.
I prepared.
Almost ready.
OK, ra, ra, ra, ra.
OK, here we go.
Oh, here we go.
Bam.
ERNIE: What?
COOKIE MONSTER: How about that?
ERNIE: Hey.
COOKIE: Is that right?
ERNIE: Let me look at that cookie.
Gee, you know, look at these two.
I'll be darned.
COOKIE MONSTER: I do it right, huh?
ERNIE: It's the same size.
It's the same shape.
And they each have a crisscross of icing on it.
So these two cookies do match.
COOKIE MONSTER: Yep.
ERNIE: You matched these two cookies.
COOKIE MONSTER: Uh, huh.
ERNIE: That's very good.
COOKIE MONSTER: Me know even better way to match cookies.
ERNIE: A better way to match cookies?
What's that?
COOKIE MONSTER: Watch.
[GOBBLING COOKIES].
See, now all cookies are crumbs and in my tummy.
They all match.
Bye-bye.
ERNIE: [WHIMPER].
