Hi this is doctor Wayne Scott Andersen cofounder and medical director of Take Shape for Life.
I am going to talk to you a little today about my new book Discover Your Optimal Health.
You know for most people health is not a priority in fact they go through their day and they
said you know I'm going to get healthy, for the weekend I'm going to go on a walk but
it really never happens. So what Discover Your Optimal Health is about is awakening
that desire for health. It's about first understanding how important your health is. You know most
people because the inconvenience of getting healthy seems to get in the way they don't
realize the inconvenience of disease will become part of their daily life and as a critical
care physician I spent twenty years taking care of people that have made unhealthy choices.
In fact 90% of cardiovascular disease is lifestyle induced. So what were about is first awakening
that desire and giving you a blueprint for health. Starts with first reaching a healthy
weight. What I love to use is the Medifast means, because Medifast meals you eat every
three hours you have one healthy lean and green meal along with that. You pick soup,
bars, chili all things that you like scramble eggs. And in about a week you are going to
lose two to five pounds for the first couple of weeks. Then after that you lose one to
two pounds per week. The neat thing about that. That creates the teachable moment, what
I like to call the teachable moment. When you are feeling better and you have more energy
