Let's continue talking about sports,
although next story we can't really define as a sport event, but more like an adventure.
We have with us Srdjan Dakic, who plans to participate this summer on a rally to Mongolia.
Good evening and welcome. -Good evening.
Can you tell us in brief what is the deal with this rally, we know it's not a typical sports event.
When it starts and where and when it ends?
It starts in London on July 23 and the end is in Ulan Bator in Mongolia, whenever you arrive.
It's not really a race, there is no route or even a winner.
Depending on a team budget and time they can afford, it may take 3,4,5 weeks.
Other than there is no defined route or a winner,
another specific thing about this adventure is that you plan to drive in a YUGO,
and other cars are also similar to ones you can see everyday on the streets.
Yeah, that's rally a catch with the rally, to put yourself and your small city car in impossible conditions
... and show how well built the are ... [ WTF, stage fright just kicked in :-) ]
[ d'oh... ]
There is a limit for the engine size of 1.200 ccm.
Going above that limit that is considered as 'cheating' since you lose the spirit of the rally.
HOST: How many participants are expected in the rally?
Well, last year there were over 300 cars. This year it is not yet clear...
...some of them may decide not to go, you need to inform your spouse at some point. [ :-) ]
There may be about 400 this year... [ just how did I come up with that number?? ]
...that's about how much rally grows every year since 2004 when it started. [ ah, OK ]
HOST: You are not going alone in this adventure, but with a partner, right?
Yeah, my coleague, also named Srdjan, from Zagreb, he will travel with me.
This is interesting since we are the first team from this region.
Most of the rally goers are from western Europe, UK, and this is the first chance for a local team.
HOST: Tell us again, if I forgot to ask, when exactly it starts?
It starts on July 23 and lasts during entire August.
Until that time, you can follow team preparations at our web site and blog
...and also using mobile technologies.
So we'll show off our tech skills as well, like, how you can communicate with us while on the road.
HOST: Now that we have mentioned the blog, let's tell viewers the web address!
Internet users can go to website www.rock.rs
...or the Facebook page where they can follow latest developments.
In the coming months there will be more information. [ it's over soon !!! ]
HOST: We'll see you then when you return from the trip.
I guess you'll bring the camera so we can see some photos?
Yeah, we'll surely bring the camera and the mobile phone
...and we'll send messages and photos from the road.
HOST: Thank you for your visit and have a safe trip!
Thank you!!
