Hi, this is Jason, and today I'm going to show you how to use Rainmeter
Rainmeter is a windows Application that allows you to custumize your desktop
You can add things inculding weather, gagets, like a clock, facebook feeds, blogs, ect.
All of this can be put on your desktop without having to navigate in your browser
To start, open up your browser and navigate to Rainmeter.net
Remember, this is a windows application, go ahead and download Rainmeter, it's a very small file
Open that, run it, and follow the basic installation, choose between 64 and 32 bit, and this start
Now, as you can see, there not much here on the default skin because Rainmeter is customized by downloading skins
So now we'll just close out of the default skin and then head online to download a better one
Go back to Rainmeter.net, head into the discover tab, and for this we'll be using Enigma, one of the reccomended skins, although there are other resources
There are hundreds out there created by people, and you can even upload your own
Now, installation of a skin is easy, download it, open it, and Rainmeter will recognize it instantly, it should only take a second
Now we have Enigma up, minimize to desktop, and close this first window as it's only some basic information
The way this skin works is you have sidebar and taskbar elements, so now I'll show you how to customize these for yourself
To manage the skin, right click on rainmeter, and then click on Manage Skin, here you'll see two distinct folders, Sidebar and Taskbar
I won't be using a taskbar, because the upper and lower part of my desktop are full, so I'll disable taskbar, and taskbar icons, and then focus on the sidebar
Next, I'm going to work on customizing the sidebars by going through the skin folders and choosing what features I want
First, I'm going to activate a second sidebar, mirroring my first one, and then we can start adding utilities.
Right now I'll position my sidebars to fit my screen better, and then add utilities
My first utility is going to be a calendar, then a clock, also you can double click on objects to change their orientation
Next we'll add in network information, system information, and then unload weather, notes, and blog since we don't have those setup
Ok, so here we have our basic setup, calendar, clock, system information, ect.
As you can see Rainmeter is just a cool way of making your desktop look nicer, and be more functional, and there is a lot more you can do, thank you for watching.
