For this fifth chapter of exnihilo report we are with a street artist simone ilovetu
I ask you a question. When did you get into street art?
I joined in street art when I was a teenager without beard
in that period I smudged the city
I used colors like black and silver
then thanks to a course on comics and illustration
and also thanks to two old artists, Macro and Pure'
I started to think well what to paint on the wall
and see the wall in a different way
using various colors and
and drawing things that could please the boy, families and the elderly
in such a way as to create on the wall a pleasing art.
when you came into the world of stickers?
I attended an event in Rome, called Stick My Car
organized by Omino71 in 2008
for this event I created some paper toys
and I printed my first adhesives
and from that time this thing has become a drug
I remember that I was working in the office
and during those working-days, I printed out the adhesive sheets
that I bought in the copy-shops. I was inexperienced.
the sticker art was born almost with the history of graffiti
the writers wrote their tags on pieces of adhesive paper
or on labels of the U.S. mail and then pasted around.
Shepard Fairey is one of the pioneers
with his most famous adhesive (OBEY), which is a wrestler, Andre The Giant.
thanks to this art, you've got to relate with others?
yes. an important aspect of art sticker is the exchange of stuff, through the post.
and thanks to the web, I collaborate with other artists
now i collaborate with Casperinc, from Rotterdam
and together we want to create a brand
then i have other collaborations.
i collaborate with Rude, from Germany
and i collabo with Auosce, an artistic collective of Lecce (italy).
with sticker art you can have contact with the whole world
it isn't an art made up of envy
there is availability.
it's an elegant art
you work with respect to urban places and environments.
indeed I always try trashing excess papers
and I always paste my stickers or posters in degraded areas of the city.
