This is a demonstration of Ezys image registration program
This example demonstrates how Ezys could be used to detect and quantify brain atrophy pattern in a case of semantic dementia
Ezys is trying to match two brain images of the same person taken two years appart
The top-right quarter of the window shows estimated volume changes.
Registration takes some time as it was recorded on a laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GT 445M graphics card.
Regions where contraction was detected are marked in red, and regions which expanded are are marked in green
Note the detected expansion of ventricles and CSF around cortex
This animation illustrates changes which happened in 2 years time
Now lets investigate a detected atrophy pattern
Note that the greatest atrophy detected is in temporal lobes as expected in case of semantic dementia
Also note that the ventricles are bright green as they expanded in two years time.
The resolution of our image registration algorithm was sufficient to distinguish between contraction of grey matter and expansion of a nearby CSF
Thank you for watching!
