>> CATFISH: We have Moxie LaBouche on the phone. Now Moxie you are the producer of this Ladies Night: An All Boy-lesque Revue that's coming up.
>> LORI: Woohoo!
>> MOXIE: Yes sir. Yes sir I sure am. I am the head producer, a show being produced by our troupe Those Freaking Weirdos,
with the logo you see at the top of the poster there.
>> LORI: Very cool.
>> CATFISH: Now this is gonna be at the Gottwald Theatre CenterStage.
>> MOXIE: Across the hall from the carpentry center.
>> CATFISH: It's next Friday?
>> MOXIE: It is Saturday the 19th.
>> CATFISH: Saturday the 19th, okay.
>> LORI: Interesting now how does, before we get anywhere else because I know everyone needs to know we actually had a man call us, remember.
His wife was in the shower.
>> CATFISH: That's right and he wanted to get tickets.
>> LORI: And he just, he was like my wife needs to know and so how do you get tickets?
>> MOXIE: You can go to the CenterStage website, richmondcenterstage.com, you have to order through their Etix system.
You can also go to tfw, that's for Those Freaking Weirdos, tfwburlesque.com and click on the poster it'll take you right to e-ticketing page.
>> LORI: Well now burlesque is really kind of you know coming into it's own in the Richmond area.
For a while there you know there was that problem with where they can perform and where they can't.
But this is quite a show and Fish and I are most fond of the names of the dancers.
>> CATFISH: Yeah this is the first all boy revue, right?
>> MOXIE: Yes, this is the first all male revue with local talent.
We did also get Paco Fish down from Baltimore and it's the first time burlesque has been held at a Richmond CenterStage venue.
>> CATFISH: Now did you all just get together drinking beer and making up names?
>> MOXIE: Sometimes I wonder.
A lot of times it comes from the persons own personality or when they are developing their character, what they want their character to portray.
>> CATFISH: Ah okay.
>> LORI: And you know what
>> MOXIE: And then sometimes they're just for fun.
>> LORI: And people kind of have a misconception of what burlesque is, do they not, a lot of people?
>> MOXIE: Yeah they do, they very much do. In the Sixties and Seventies when strip clubs became a thing, they, burlesque had to sort of become the thing that killed it.
Because burlesque has been going on for over a 150 years.
>> CATFISH: Oh yeah.
>> MOXIE: It is about entertainment first and foremost and the sexuality is kind of a distant second. It's, it's sexy, but not ***; if that makes sense.
>> LORI: It does, yeah. It's the big, it's the giant tease.
>> MOXIE: Yeah, we're all about you know the boas and the gloves and the feather fans and things like that.
Most of us perform what called neo-burlesque.
When you think of burlesque with the feather boas and the evening gowns, that's classical.
Neo-burlesque is more props and comedy, that what our troupe does. When you come and see Paco Fish that is what he is known for and great, just great at.
And he will also be teaching classes the following day at Boom Boom Basics burlesque and performing arts studio.
If any of the gentlemen are thinking of taking up the craft they can take his funny boy and sexy boy class.
>> LORI: Oh I could seriously, my husbands name is, I need a reservation. I need a reservation.
>> MOXIE: OK, go to boomboombasics.com.
Sign up quickly because Paco is a nationally recognized boylesque dancer and performer.
He has got tons of awards and it's gonna be a small class so sign up now.
>> CATFISH: I was thinking of taking that class. What does your Grandfather do? "Oh he's a boylesque dancer."
>> MOXIE: There are worst things.
>> LORI: There are.
>> CATFISH: Well Moxie thanks for visiting with us and filling us in on what this is all about and we hope it is a big success for ya.
>> MOXIE: Well thank you sir, I do think it will be and I appreciate your help in that effort.
>> LORI: Great have a good one honey.
>> MOXIE: You too.
>> LORI: Bye bye.
>> MOXIE: Bye bye.
