Hi! I am Bob Osborne with Expert Village. In this segment we are going to be talking
about conditioning the trim on a vehicle. That is the plastic or rubber exterior trim
pieces that are not painted. I use a very high quality UV protector called 303. You
can actually find this product at marine supply stores and some higher end auto supply stores,
but it is the best UV protector in the market. I never spray the product directly on the
trim. I always spray it on the sponge and then wipe it on the trim and immediately wipe
off the residue afterwards. You don’t want it to drip down on to the paint. You should
do this process before you wax the car, that way when you are waxing the car if you accidentally
get some wax on the trim pieces, the protectant will actually make it a lot easier to remove
the wax on those trim pieces once you have finished waxing. When you are applying dressing
to the tires, I found that the best method is take a towel, put in underneath the tire,
just like this, you don’t want to get this on concrete or pavement because it will actually
leave a mark when it rains or when there is water on the pavement will show up. It is
quite visible and a lot of property owners don’t want to see this on the driveway.
So when I start the tire, I always spray the bottom first after protecting the surface
right here with a towel, then I go ahead and apply the rest of the product with a sponge
starting at the base and moving around. Take the towel that you have used to cover the
driveway and remove the excess from the tire. This is the good time to make sure that there
is no excess product on the wheel also.
