This is a Lexus GS 300.
I Think this is a 2000 model,
and we've got this problem right here. (SQUEAKING NOISE)
Its Horrible.
I just greased the other side.
And I'm about to do the same on this side.
So lets see if we can fix it.
All right, I got it jacked up...
safety first
Use your jack-stands.
okay, I took the wheel off.
come around here
This is the Lower control arm
Im gonna take this bolt off.
There's a little notch right here,
I'm gonna mark it with a Sharpie (Marking Pen)
to make sure it stays lined up. (when re assembled)
And I'm gonna check the bushing out to see if its ok.
If its ok, then I'm gonna inject some grease into it.
also gonna into grease into
the upper control arm.
And I will squirt some in there too.
Now i will go ahead and mark this
so i will know where it lines up.
Its a 19 millimeter (socket)
Once it gets started, its really easy to come off.
I've got to get my hammer.
It just pushed right off of there. :)
mechanic
Looking at it, ( the bushing) its no busted or anything
But I'm getting squeaking from somewhere.
And I believe that this is the culprit right here.
I don't know why
but it likes to squeak.
Let me look at this bolt ...
To see if i can see anything...
It could be that the bolt is rubbing right up it there somewhere. I don't know.
Cant say for sure. But I'l but some grease on it too.
Here's a Needle that has a sharp tip.
and a connector for a grease gun
Here's my grease gun with the needle tip attached.
You squeeze,
and grease comes out the end.
I'm going to inject right under this lip here
and make it go as far back as is can.
just inject it, keep
pumping until
you see it (the grease) start to ooze out.
Yeah, its tying to come out now.
but unfortunately i may be out of grease. I'm going to have to change this grease cartridge
upper control arm
I'm gonna shoot some in here.
Its probably fine but I'm gonna put some in here anyways.
I gonna also put some in here.
Ok I've got the grease in
at the point i was talking about
but also gonna put some grease on
this bolt right here (lower control arm bolt)
But just on this end
That way I wont get any grease
on my threads
All right
The easiest way
to get the lower control arm back up there...
is to jack it back up.
You may have to wiggle it a little bit
to get it to line back up in there
It looks like it wants to fight me anyways...
Ok, I pretty much have it lined back up now
and here's the screw (lower control arm bolt)
and I put grease on just this side
to keep the threads clean.
Now i'll put my washer back on here that's marked.
Make sure it's lined up.
If it is not
I'm gonna get some pliers and turn it
until it lines up
unit this notch her line up with the other one. Then hold it in place and bolt it down.
All right, Got the wheel back on, got everything back together.
got it lubed up and lets see if we get any squeaking.
It looks like we were successful.
ok baby, take your car down block and lets try it out.
Here are the parts I bought from Autozone
I bought this grease gun for about seven bucks,
The grease cartridges for six bucks,
The important part here is the needle attachment for the grease gun
you just attach it to the end of your grease gun.
You actually inject it (grease) into the bushings
I don't know why Lexus did not give you
a point where you could attach a grease gun to bushings
but this is what i did.
