self-loading rifles have been under development in Germany for many years
and these efforts finally bought fruit
In the Walther Gewehr '41
the automatic bold was operated by muzzle gases deflected back into an
annual piston
The Gewehr '41 however
although accurate was nuzzle heavy and unreliable
and was superseded in service by the Gewehr '43
an all together better weapon
which also used the gas operating system
the Gewehr '43 was fitted with telescopic sights
and was commonly used as a sniper-rifle
the Germans
mainly at the epidice of
the russians who were using some Semi-automatic rifles themselves as sniper pieces
developed this G43 rifle
and it was a reliable eight-millimeter repeater semi-automatic which
meant that uh every time you pull the trigger it would fire
each G43 whether it was a sniper rifle or not
was actually equipped
or manufactured with
a sniping rail
This allowed the gun to be
quickly adapted to the sniping role
whether it was issued to standard infantryman or snipers, it still had that rail on it.
that made it very easily from the logistic standpoint to
to turn soldiers into snipers quickly.
