Hi everybody! In this video we are going to explain the main rules
of the "TaurHEMAchia" tournament, that will take place in Turin on september 29th. For more information please visit the official website
As about the ACTIONS, you can use:
the blade of the sword, for cuts and thrusts;
the pommel of the sword (only on the mask);
the buckler (only on the mask);
and, in case of wrestling, punches and kicks.
You can hit the whole body of your opponent, but:
back of the neck;
backbone;
back of the knee;
groin;
ankles;
feet;
fingers.
As about the DUEL, these are the elements:
two fencers (RED and BLUE)
three judges;
one referee;
2 minutes of effective duelling time.
The referee invites fencers to greet each other and let the duel begin (saying "DUELLO").
When judges see a valid hit
they call for it ("COLPO"),
and, right after, the referee calls for a STOP.
Then the referee asks the judges to express their vote, and assigns the score.
To win the duel you must gain 6 points or gain more points than your opponent in the time of 2 minutes.
As about SCORING there are different situations:
EFFECTIVE BLOW: it must be quick enough and can be a cut or a thrust.
It will earn you one point. The judge will lift horizontally the flag with the colour of the awarded fencer.
DOUBLE HIT: fencers strike each other in the same time.
It won't earn you any point, because you always have to protect yourself before striking your opponent.
Starting from the 4th double hit in a duel, fencers will lose one point each other.
The judge will lift up horizontally both blue and red flags.
AFTER BLOW: one fencer (for exemple RED) hits the other (BLUE) and BLUE strikes back in the very next moment.
This won't earn RED fencer any points.
The judge will lift up horizontally the RED flag AND vertically the BLUE flag.
PAY ATTENTION! If RED hits the head of BLUE and then BLUE strikes back,
RED scores one point and BLUE'*** is not effective.
The judge will lift horizontally the RED flag.
UNEFFECTIVE HIT: the judge will cross the flags in front of him/herself.
UNNOTICED HIT: the judge will cross the flags behind his /her back.
Please note that at least TWO judges must agree about score for this to be assigned;
if two judges declare an "unnoticed hit", the assessment of the third judge will be considered as valid.
DOMINATION IN THE WRESTLING:
in a physical fight you gain one point if you express a domain on your opponent.
If none of the fencers express this domain, the referee stops the wrestling after 5 seconds and no point is awarded.
PAY ATTENTION! One point will be awarded to your opponent if you get out of the ring with both your feet;
one point will be awarded to your opponent if you turn your back to him/her;
one point will be awarded to the fencer who takes the weapon of his/her opponent;
you will be awarded one point if your opponent falls down.

WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE A NICE CLEAN GAME! That's why you can:
declare an unnoticed effective hit you received from your opponent;
or declare that your hit was not effective at all.
In both cases it is more relevant than judge's assessment.
BUT you cannot claim for a point if the judges decided differently.
Also you cannot: hit violently;
or hit with the purpose of hurting.
If you cause one accident, the duel will end in a draw (groups rounds),
or in a double defeat (eliminatory rounds).
If you cause two accidents, you will be excluded from the tournament.
