"This area is so unbelievably important to us. And as you all know, a couple of our beaches
were just rated best in the country by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The tourism
economy is a huge economy for us in terms of how much money it generates and how many
people it employees down here and having this kind of protection is just incredibly important.
You know you can't control Mother Nature for sure, but when you can do everything you can
to protect and prevent it makes a big difference. I was just this weekend in Milwaukee at the
National Governors Association, and we had a session, a governor's only session, where
we heard from a couple governors talking about dealing with some of the natural disasters
they have seen. Governor Christie from New Jersey was talking about the unbelievable
impact Hurricane Sandy up there. They were just hammered. We were fortunate that we did
not get hit worse, but what we did see here and Tony was mentioning it, it is incredible
to be here today after having been here right after that storm and seeing what it was like
then. And even then we took a number of stops on that trip and we saw a number of areas
that were relatively protected given how built up the dunes were. And having this kind of
protection in place is so important. I wanted to come out today to see the progress that
has been made, the kind of work that has been continuing. For a state like Delaware, a low
lying state, these kinds of protections are just incredibly important. As you can tell
it takes an awful lot of people to make this happen. So I appreciate everybody coming down.
