CNN had this big long segment earlier today
it was about five to 10 minutes on a new study that said
violence in PG 13 movies has tripled since
1985 and then the host
who was filling in for Brooke Baldwin I think her name is cure Phillips
said that um yeah the rating system is supposedly
very inconsistent and it's done in a very secretive weighing where big money
film and video game companies
can get the ratings that they want that's what she said
now let's pause here for a second look at what CNN is doing
so when it comes to talking about big-money influence in politics
when it comes to talking about how all the senators whether they're republicans
or democrats
everybody me check your branch the president on downright
almost people are corrupted by big money that's why they give
you know the four billion dollar annual subsidy to the oil companies
that's why you have corporate welfare that's why you have Honeywell having a
negative sixty percent tax rate right
that's why you have always big corporations
paying an effective tax rate of about 12 percent but some of the biggest thing 0
percent the most probably only 30 percent taxes
that's where big money is actually affecting the world and affecting
politics and economics
but CNN she don't know whether you're not at all the only time they bring up
big-money affecting things is wanted video game companies and
and film companies that can get the rating that they want because it
now I pose to you which one is a bigger issue
big-money controlling our politicians and making it so that the politicians
never represent the american people
the only represent a corporations and the rich or
big-money making on r-rated movie pg-13
which is a bigger issue than is more serious for americans
be entered as obvious I really need to say it but it blew my mind that you can
you can be talk about big-money influence on this issue but not on the
others
but I i also I got really pissed off and I was listening to the segment because
again I want to reiterate
what this study said the new study said violence in PG 13 movies has tripled
since 1985
with the study did not say is that it has tripled and that is leading to
to gun violence and but increase crime rate did not say that
now why didn't say that because that's not true because all the studies have
said the
opposite of that that if anything violence in movies and violent video
games
has been correlated with a decrease in violent crime
and it's been correlated with kids having a rally further anger so they
don't actually
take it out on violently in the real world right so actually helps kids
if anything it either has no record helps kids but
the host just kept but making a point that
I've not been yes my is big problem is why we to the jury yet has been an
increase in Montana movie is gonna be leading to the hearings at
no it doesn't don't take my word for it take the Australian Government who went
through all
all the studies a huge meta-analysis and they said a look there's no connection
between
violence in video games and movies and violence in real life
trust the US Supreme Court who said in a massively conservative Supreme Court
pro-gun rights
you know they were like yeah I will there's really no connection between
you know video game violence media violence
and actual violence don't take my word for it take the experts
but words for it but the other thing that got under my skin is doing
if you're going to a segment about all leading to gun violence
where the study about how the increase
in guns in the United States since 1985 is gonna probably more than three times
we have 300 million guns in circulation in the US
if you actually wanna see what leads to gun violence
cross the harvard study that says more guns equals more homicides
more guns equals more gun violence again CNN Denmark cover that story
didn't cover the story of 300 million guns in circulation
shock shock a lot of people get shot and killed right know they covered all their
violence and in PG 13 movies
and then there's no connection with a make a connection to gun violence AR be
afraid be afraid be scared
nah man it's it's a gross violation I love
journalistic decency because you're making connections where there's not
connections and you're swinging and missing on the actual substantive issues
