Mom, I need some help getting ready for this interview.
Oh, my handsome little guy. You're going to look so great!
Mom, snap out of it. I really need less ooey gooey and more professionalism from you right
now.
Oh, sorry. (straightens up and puts on serious face) Go ahead honey, what's the problem?
Well, I don't know if I should wear a tie or not.
Well, this is a big interview, and it really just completes the whole outfit.
Yeah, but when I went in there to scope the place out, no one wears a tie. I don't want
to be "that guy."
Who is "that guy?"
(sigh) It's an expression mom.
Oh, well what's wrong with "that guy?"
It's like, he thinks he's too good for everyone.
Oh, I see. So "that guy" is a bad thing?
Not always but in this situation, yes.
Okay, so do the bosses wear ties there?
Some do, mainly the big wigs.
The men wear wigs?
Mom that's an expression too...
Oh, so big wig means?
It means the head guys. The executives. I'm pretty sure they all wear ties.
Okay, so are you just looking to be a regular employee the whole time, or are you looking
to be one of the "big wigs" eventually?
I would definitely like to move up in that company.
Well, then I think you have your answer.
So I should wear the tie?
Sure honey, if you want the executives to see you in a suit and tie someday, then I
think it would be best to make someday, today.
Wow mom, that was deep.
Deep?
Yeah mom, means heartfelt, or something to think about.
Oh, I see. Well, god luck honey, don't break a leg.
No mom, it's break a leg.
Why would I want you to do that?
Never mind, thanks mom.
