Hello and welcome to AmeriClean of Southwest Florida. Today we will be polishing some vinyl
flooring at a local dental office. This is also known as VCT or vinyl composition tile.
Vinyl composition tile should be maintained with daily sweeping and moping with a neutral
pH cleaner. This will help maintain the protective layers of floor finish between professional
cleanings. First thing we're going to do is, of course, move the furniture, sweep the floor,
then we apply the floor stripper to the floor. Then the machine you see here, scrubs and
strips the old floor finish, sealer, ground in dirt, and all the impurities that have
gotten tracked into the tile over time. This is the most important step to get all the
dirt off of the floor, to get it completely clean and neutralized. We use edging brushes
to get into the edges and corners of places where the larger machine can't reach. In heavily
trafficed areas we must supply more floor stripper and then go over these areas again
to get all of the excess build up off of the floor. Once all of the old dirt, sealer, and
finish has been loosened from the floor, we then squeege up and wet vac all of that dirty
solution from the flooring. After that's complete the floor's inspected. We triple clear-water
rinse the floor to make sure that all of the stripping solution and chemicals are off of
the tile. Now your floors are ready for the new floor finish. If this is a maintenance
service we apply one or two coats. On a strip and refinish, we'll do 5-12 coats of finish. The
more finish you put on the floor will make the job last even longer. And add, of course,
to the shine. AmeriClean has been doing floors like this for over 26 years. Most flooring
requires a strip and refinish 1-2 times per year and should be professional maintained
at least once per month. You can reach us in Fort Myers at 239-936-3332 or in Naples 239-596-9696
