Hello! Linda Hallberg here. Today I'm going to show how to do contouring
In other words, how to shape the face using bright and dark colors
The product I will use is called Contour Kit from Anastasia
It contains six different shades. Three bright shades and three darker shades
Two bright and dim shades and one with a bit more shimmer. The shimmer will make your face look fuller and younger
And three darker shades. Depending on complexion and how you want your shadows to look
I will use this one in the middle that's a bit grey because I have such a light skin tone
These two would seem more like orange if you use it for eyeshadow
Let's do this!
Step one is to put shadow on my cheekbones
I have covered my whole face with this Foundation from gloLUXE so now it looks rather flat
Which is...quite boring!
So now I will try to push my cheekbones into my face
Then I'm going to make my nose look thinner
Also, I will try push in my temples a bit and just under my chin to get a thin look on my face
Then I'm going work with brightness to bring out my cheeks, nose, forehead and chin even more
I will use this one in the middle and a brush from Real Techniques called Contour brush
Put this just under the cheekbone
When I'm done with the cheekbones and feel satisfied with the shadow I start with the temples
And there I also want some shadow
It's good to work on the temples if you have a square shaped face and want it to look more round
Also work on the jaw line if it looks angular
By using darker shades here you get a more round shape on your face
My face is not that square looking so I will ignore my jaw line and work on my temples
I want some shadow there
Now I work under the chin to get a nicer outline
Time to put some shadow on the nose
My nose is not that big but it's always nice to get some contours on it
I'm still going to use the same color but now I'll use a smaller brush
It's called Base Shading Brush
I use this on both sides of the nose
Here you have to be really careful to not get too much or it will look funny
You can do lots of different things with the nose
For example, if your nose is crooked you can correct to make it look more straight
Contrawise, if you're nose is straight you can make it look crooked if you feel like being quirky
So you can do lots of different things with dark and bright colors
Now I'm going to make my lips look more pouty
Still using the same color but with a smaller brush called Accent Brush
I put this dark shadow just above the cupid's bow and smudge it
I will do the same procedure under the lip, just where the natural shadow occur
To make the lower lip also look more pouty
Like this
I feel I'm done with the dark colors now so I'll start with the bright colors
You may choose a dim or a gleamy bright color
I like a gleamy color because I like a smooth and luster look so I'm going to use this color
Again, I use the Contour Brush from Real Techniques
And I put this on the cheekbones
Not too close to the nose
I want the most shimmer to be right on the cheekbones highest point
Use gentle, circular motions to get the best result
Like that
Now I'm going to work on the nose with the bright color
To do this I use the Setting Brush from Real Techniques which is a little smaller
This brush is easy to use on smaller parts like the nose and chin
I also want to highlight the forehead a little bit for a nice and clean look
It's really just on the highest points of the face I use this bright color
Like that
Now I feel I'm done with the contouring so I move on to the bronzing powder and blush
Time to put on the bronzing powder from Too Faced called Chocolate Soleil
This is the brightest color called Milk chocolate and it's perfect for those with light complexion
I put on this using the Blush brush from Real Techniques
Which is like the world's largest blush brush but it's really nice to use
I put this almost on the same spot as the shading but a little bit higher up
Because I want some more color now so my face doesn't look so pale
So I blend this in a neat way
This is something you have to work out yourself to get the look you feel is right for you
But don't put bronzing powder on the whole face because that doesn't look good at all!
Avoid the middle parts when working with highlights
Highlights are the bright colors we've worked with now
It's important to work on the throat when you've put color on the face so you don't end up with a white throat and a brown face
Because the throat is usually brighter than the face
And also on the ears if you feel they look a bit red or pale
Now I'm going to use Blush from Make Up store called Chic, which is a very cold pink and goes well with a lighter skin tone
It works with darker complexion also but specially with light because a light complexion usually already have a cold tone
I put the blush where the highlight meets the shading so it lands somewhere in the middle
You mix in all the colors with each other
Now I feel like I'm finished but there are people, like me who want even more gloss on the nose and cheekbones
To do that I use this Wonder Powder from Make up store called Sinai
It's a really nice gloss. No shimmer but a nice gloss for a matte face
It's a glossy mineral powder you can use for yourself or on another makeup
This powder is good to mix with body lotion in the summer to get really nice and glossy legs
Now I feel satisfied with my contouring and my new and full face
To sum it up, remember to use dark colors to push things in and bright colors to pull things out
Don't use the same brush for dark and bright colors if you want to avoid a catastroph
And if you want a fresh and nice look it's good to use a little, little bit of shimmer on the face
Be careful with the shading so you don't overdo it
