Cake Ninja 2 is just Fruit Ninja in a bakery.
Problem is, I have, like...four more minutes to fill. So, uh...hold on. I gotta have some
puns in there somewhere. Um...hey, did I mention I have a thing for Emma Watson?
Ghostbusters...reference.
Holy sh*t, Im running out of material.
Frankly, so is the Cake Ninja. This guys evidently on a gluten-free diet, because he
seems to have a real problem with baked goods. Can you imagine if this guy met the butcher,
the baker and the candlestick maker? Hed steal the butchers axe, use it to ***
the baker...probably just fart toward the candlestick guy.
Hows that even a profession? What a cowardly career.
So again, if youve played the mega-popular mobile game Fruit Ninja...you know just what
to expect from Cake Ninja 2. These pastries are tossed into the air, and using the stylus,
you slice them into pieces. Thats the whole game. Now, there are variations, in the form
of four different game modes, one of which is just the first Cake Ninja. So as Cake Ninja
games go, this is the definitive Cake Ninja.
Which actually is less impressive than it sounds.
So, uh...as far as the modes go, the first one has you slicing up cakes in certain combinations.
So you have to match the combos specified on the top screen. The second mode is all
about speed. You have to slice up 222 cakes as fast as possible,
slicing only the specified cakes. The third mode has you slicing as long as you can without
missing 10 cakes, and again, the fourth modes the original Cake Ninja.
The modes add at least a little variation to what is...an inherently limited idea. Theres
nothing here thats gonna blow you away in terms of creativity, but...having four
modes is certainly decent. Especially for a DSiWare game. And you know, it might not
be as fluid or responsive as Fruit Ninja, but I didnt have any issues with the gameplay.
The touch controls worked just fine.
The game has plenty of achievements, which is nice. It also has leaderboards, but...theyre
not really online leaderboards. I mean, I guess originally, you would get this code?
And then you could use that to post your score on the Cake Ninja website, which is kind of
old-school. But then again, I never got a code, so...I dont think it works anymore.
Hopefully thats not a deal breaker, for you Cake Ninja fiends.
Its hard to really know who to recommend this to. I guess if youre really into Fruit
Ninja and youre just interested in anything thats similar, you might have fun with
this. But you know, dont expect the same type of polished experience. This cake is
a little rough around the edges. And it didnt set as nicely, in the oven.
It does have multiplayer, though...and, uh...hey!
Puns, puns, Peter Venkman, I have great hair, Hermione Granger, BOOM!
Four minutes, about Cake Ninja 2.
