As a kid growing up in Windsor, I’ve always been very comfortable with the city of Detroit.
But every time we crossed the bridge to get a gallon of milk or cheap gas, this massive
building caught my attention. I had no idea what it was. It captured my imagination for
years. Then, I heard Detroit city council voted to tear the building down. So I invited
a couple of photographer friends from Toronto to join me on a road trip to take one last
look at the building, and say good bye to a friend that I knew well, but didn’t know
me.
