Here’s how to save the free ProfessorWord bookmarklet.
Saving it to the iPad requires a little ingenuity because unlike a bookmark – which is just
a link to a website - a bookmarklet is actually a browser tool.
There are two ways to save the bookmarklet. We offer both sets of instructions on our
Getting Started page, but we think the first method is easier so that’s what we’ll
go over here today. Okay, let’s get started! Step 1: Make sure your Bookmarks Bar is visible
If it’s not, tap out of Safari. Go into Settings and select Safari. Then turn Always
Show Bookmarks Bar on. Great! Now return to our Getting Started page.
Step 2: Bookmark the page. Tap this link to prepare the page. Then, tap
the Action button -> Add Bookmark -> make sure to save to Bookmarks Bar and not Bookmarks
-> then Save. Great! Step 3: Copy the bookmarklet code
Tap the text box so that the keyboard shows up. Now tap again and hold down until the
magnifying glass appears. Let go. Then tap Select All -> then Copy.
Step 4: Edit the saved bookmark To do this, tap the Bookmarks button -> then
Edit -> then Select Run ProfessorWord! And the last step: Replace the URL with the
bookmarklet code Touch and hold the URL until the magnifying
glass appears. Choose Select All -> then Paste -> then tap out of the bookmarks window to
save. That’s it! ProfessorWord is now saved and
ready to use! Now, the next time you’re at a website that
uses words you don’t know - just select Run ProfessorWord! from your Bookmarks Bar
– and you’ll be able to get definitions just by tapping the words.
So there you have it, save our free bookmarklet today to find out how easy it can be to improve
your vocabulary while you surf the web.
