this week we're gonna talk about meditate a preset
in Lightroom Adorama TV presents exploring
the top 30 with Mark Wallace for you to learn
innovative techniques time shooting a wide-ranging photography hi everybody
want another episode: exploring photography right here on an aroma TV
brought to you by Adorama
it's the camera store has everything for photographers including Lightroom five
minutes we're gonna be talking about
for the next couple of pepper said specifically for those in who just
bought Lightroom five in your setting up for the very first time
there are two things that I highly recommend that you do one
is to set up meta-data presets wanna talk about that miss simpson acceptable
to be talking about watermarks and how we can set those up to use
on exports or customers know who we are people don't rip offer
images but this week we'll be talking about meta-data preset
what is meditate all meta data is all the information that describes your
photos who shot it where we shot what lens was used what cameras use the
shutter speed all that kinda stuff
a lot of that is called except meta-data and it is created by the camera itself
sewing taken
picture the cameras can record all this information in the file that's about the
lands in the focal length in a flash fired in the white balance all that
stuff but there's all those
extra stuff we can adlai captions in headlines
ratings we can say who created if it's copyrighted or not
all that stuff in all that stuff is what we want to do in Lightroom
and still having to do that every single time what we can do is we can create
something that's called a meta-data
reset net we will meet importer files all the information that we want and can
automatically be added to our images and it saves us so much time trying to do it
once
and use it over and over for years so let's take a look at midday to preset in
Lightroom 5
I'm but it's Marc Wallice make sure you check out at aromas latest contest
you could win some great prizes all right let's take a closer look at
setting up meta-data presets
and to do this it's very simple the very top %uh Lightroom here
in your menu bar here you've got meta-data click on that
and then scroll down to click edit meta-data
presets you want to create some presets are so a click on that
and the next thing happens as we get this meta-data preset window
now what we want to do is we want to create a preset that is specific to
all on the image is a global presets anything you ever shoot
ever you wanna applied is preset you could create presets based on
location or maybe a model that you work with a lot on your usage rights things
like that
its up to you but I she had to do a very basic preset
and surrounding her is on a leave alone and fill out an information that might
be
that might change over time liked it the cop in a moderating
label the captions which camera was used all that kinda stuff
when you hear have highlighted these in red so we can see these pretty easily
is I met focus on the IPTC copyright
information now because that's not going to change
except for maybe when we a peek from year to year so I'm gonna type this in
here so
alice is 2014 and I will say copyright
2014 Mark Wallace in the copyright status
on these images is copyrighted now will be applied on
images so people know hey Mark Wallace created these in 2014 are copyrighted
not have rights usage terms you might wanna
put those in here and limited usage rights are limited uses writer
whatever that is and if you have a copyright info URL
on your website something that you could point people to say here's what I mean
by that
type that in there I don't some believe that blank and the other thing that i
won it
at fill in here is the the IPTC creator
information and so of course that's me so Mark Wallace
area so those are things that you wouldn't want to be applied to all of
the photos that you take
all the time so I shot these anything else you in 2014 I want is information
attached to those images so that
there is data there that tells me exactly who created that might serve
have multiple photographers in your
studio you might want to create different preset perfect AGA for
you can also create things like the day created in the
intellectuals honor all that kinda stuff you want to do that
and if you have something that is act consistent
like the person shown in the image maybe she with certain model all the time you
can
through that stuff in there miss all kinds of things that you can
put into these presets we're gonna leave this with the basic copyright
information
so the next thing I want to do is I want to save this
all this information as a new preset and I'm gonna save this
as 2014 mark Wallace make sure you descriptive because you can have a bunch
of different
presets here so and Norman C copyright
so I know that's what this is so I'll see create
now let's show you how to use this preset and make it meaningful saucy done
now when I import photo so it can go here in a min import some photos really
quickly
so many going here not got and this aroma TV she had to be sharing a while
back
you'll notice on the import dialogue here on the right hand side there's this
meta data
drop down box so I can click that and choose
my new preset so if you have many different presets you choose the one
that is appropriate for the shoot thing you would maybe
put in some key words here all say sharon & lighting
leave it like that but you can really do a bunch of
different things there in now when you import these
your catalog on just import these
well we'll see here in the and the library module
on the right hand side we have this meta data tab you may have to drop this down
cemented click this disclosure triangle to drop this down
talking to different types of meta-data in so the one that we updated was called
IPTC
meta-data so click on that and now you can see that all the information
entered the creator and job title Monica stuff is there
and so I just interred at once in now every single photo that's in this
on miss imported folders can have the information
so just saves a lot have time and then you can always go in here and you can
and things like the headlines I can say you know this is Sharon
in the description is Sharon looks to camera right
it cetera and so you can see catalog models
you are going to different things there and so you can always add to this
in if it's something that use over and over you can always create
a preset to be used by that so meta-data presets are gonna see you at high enough
time
and if you're brand new to Lightroom that's when the very very first things I
suggest that you do get in there
in creating new presets are every single time import your photos
you can make sure that your copyright is attached to those photos
alright will next week we'll talk about the other thing I really recommend that
you do
when you're setting up Lightroom for the first time in that is to add
a watermark so tune in next week and remember tons of stuff
