My boyfriend is obsessed with Steed Lord.
He was playing their stuff for me.
And he's like, you've got to listen to them.
You've got to hear them, and you'll fall in love with them.
And I did immediately.
And I had this urge one on night.
I was teaching at a convention--
I forget where I was.
It was in the middle of the night.
And I started looking at all these artists that I
wanted to work with.
And I just kept saying to myself, wow, I really feel
like we are supposed to meet and we're
supposed to create together.
I just had it in my gut, and I just wrote them and said, I'm
just a choreographer that would love to create movement
on your music.
I think you guys are genius.
And literally, I think it was minutes later, Kali of Steed
Lord emailed me back.
When we spoke more about the concept of the video and just
seeing all their other work, I was just in awe of how
completely inventive they are as people.
They're three really inventive, innovative humans.
They really love what they do.
And they believe in what they do.
And it's true artistry to me.
They let me know what type of mood they wanted the movement
to be, for sure.
But that's what I love about them too-- is
they believe in me.
And they wanted me to show me in their work, in their music,
and in their video.
And I was really impressed by that.
So I would create a bunch of phrases with my family of
dancers that are amazing.
And I would invite them to rehearsals.
And so they would just come, and we would talk about what
they liked and what they didn't like and what they
wanted more of.
And it was great because I had a bunch of phrases set before
we started.
And then when we went to shoot, we just came up with so
many other things.
It's so strange.
We're so viscerally inspired by each other that so many
more ideas just happen when we're there.
I can't tell you what it is, but there's more coming soon.
