Martin Luther King shines bright in the golden plates of American history, even today
He was born on January 15, 1929 as the son of a Baptist Minister
He started his life as the Pastor of Dexter Avenure Baptist Church, when he was 25 years old
At 26, he recieved his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Boston University
He was not only a brave preacher, but was a bold warrior against those who denied justice
A black woman named Rosa Parks who was travelling in a bus
refused to give up her seat for a white man, and was arrested for breaking the law.
There was widespread protests all over America against this incident
With the leadership of Martin Luther King, the black community in America boycotted the buses
This was later to be famously known as "The Montgomery Bus Boycott"
This boycott lasted for about 385 days
Due to this boycott, Martin Luther's house was bombed by frustrated white people
He also had to undergo arrests many times due to these protests
Finally, the government had to succumb to the protests and revoked these inhumane and absurd laws
He was elected as the President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957
This organisation was to be the frontrunner in every activism and protest for Human Rights in America
Martin Luther, who was influenced by Ghandian Ideas and Non-Violence
visited the Sabarmati Ashram in 1959
Based on these ideas of Non-Violence, more protests started building up in America
In 1963, he led the March on Washington
His address to the march, known as the "I Have A Dream" paved the way for a transformation of American law and life
He recieved the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964
He was the youngest man ever to recieve this award
As he stood at his balcony in his motel room in Memphis
He was a shot at by a white man named James Earl Ray.
His address to a mass on the previous night, was a prophetic speech about his death
His words still echoes through the protests for Human Rights even today
Our respects to the man who fought for the mission to "Save America"
