I'm Hannah Mahoney and I entered UESP last year
I was in it for a total of one year and now I am a History and Communications major.
My advisor was Kerry Kincanon
and why he helped me so much is because he facilitated my two passions
and brought them together, which is community and history
and he told me it was okay to be a liberal arts major
and that you can actually achieve something in life with a liberal arts major
and now I'm working towards a museum education career and I'm really excited about it.
The reason I liked UESP so much
is because Kerry showed me classes that I would have never found out by myself
and they were random but they allowed me to find my passion more in history
and so that's how I became more in love with history
and that you can kind of build programs more than you think you can
and it's not set in stone and Kerry let me know that.
And then Communications just helps with the museum education aspect
and being able to communicate with people because it's kind of important in museums.
My biggest piece of advice
is don't be embarrassed to be in UESP or to be undeclared
because in the end it'll just help you.
And it doesn't mean that you're less ambitious or that you're lost in life
It actually helps a lot because you'll be more on track in the end
and not have to switch your major 10 times
I came in as a graphic design major
and now I'm in History.
